22 to 1 Tom’s Tips and Commentary
Race 1 – Dubawi Legend At Compas Stallions Handicap 6f
3 – Rathbranchurch
He returned to the races with a run at the Curragh and finished seventh out of thirteen runners. He went off as the lukewarm favorite at 4-1. He was with the leaders but finished steadily and needed a race. Next, let’s see what happens with returning five furlongs.
13 – My Girl Sioux
She’s run in the money in her last three starts at Dundalk. She’s only won once in her racing career, and it was on the all-weather. Why pick her? She’s been racing and has much better overall form than many of these other horses. The soft going is a question mark, but maybe the distance and track will suit her.
1 – White Clover
She won a maiden race at five furlongs in her last start in October, and the eighth race of her career proved to be the charm. She had finished in the money four times prior to this win. She achieved victory on soft ground and may prefer that type of surface for future success. The outside post position raises a question mark, but in this straight course race, the ground conditions on that part of the track will be key to her performance.
Race 4 – The DAR Golf Handicap 7f
4 – Love Billy Boy
Following his last race on the 16th, he is the one to beat. He missed by a neck at the Curragh, covering six furlongs in soft conditions. Did he lose the race due to the slow start? He seems to prefer a horse that can run, and my main concern is the weight penalty. However, he certainly can compete based on his seventeen starts, with twelve of those resulting in a win, second, or third finish.
12 – Gerrit’s Gem
He hasn’t raced since October but can come off a layoff to win on the yielding surface. He drops back in distance today and is making a good first-up effort again. My concern is that both his wins are at Cork, though he has placed in this race, he was a well-beaten third by twelve lengths. Will the distance suit him? I think not.
2 – En Or
His last race was over hurdles at a much longer distance than today, where he finished second. In the race before that, he won at Dundalk, going one and a quarter miles on the all-weather track. This is a curious move because this is the shortest distance he has ever raced. At seven, he has had success with 32 starts, including six wins and two seconds. His last two races have been under a new trainer; maybe that’s the difference.
Considered:
6 – Sara Valentina
1 – Chicago Fireball
Race 5 – The Irish Racing Writers Association Ron McKnight Memorial Madrid Handicap 7f
1 – Kodilicious
Her last race was in November at Newmarket, where she missed victory by a nose while going six furlongs. She won at Sligo on yielding to soft ground in August. When she raced at Naas, the jockey reported that she hit every ridge and finished fifth. The same jockey who previously won on her is returning to ride again.
2 – Serengeti
He won his last race at Dundalk, finishing this distance by one and a quarter lengths after a solid third-place run at Leopardstown over the same distance on soft ground. He led the entire race, pushing up with the leaders during the winning effort. Aiden O’Brien trains him.
5 – Tangapour
He won his last race on the front end by over four lengths in October. This was on heavy ground. He had a third-place finish in the all-weather race prior. He drops in distance and should demonstrate speed again.
Race 6 – The Tote Irish EBF Devoy Stakes (Listed Race) 1m 2f
1 – Dawning Rising
He last ran in November, and something went very wrong, finishing sixth by 26 lengths. This was after a Group Three win at the Curragh. Both races were on yielding ground. This eight-year-old has been competing in marathon races for a while, and he hasn’t run this distance in some time; however, he has faced very good horses, and if he’s ready, he can deliver a strong performance.
6 – Sunchart
Last year, he placed second in a small field during a Group Three race at Tipton. Historically, he has performed much better at this distance compared to some of the longer races. From 35 starts, he has won three races, finished second twelve times, and achieved one third-place finish. He tends to excel at running second at this distance, in my opinion.
1 – Dallas Star
He won his last race at Dundalk on the front end after a layoff. He showed promise early in his races, securing a novice and a group three win on soft to yielding ground. Then, the trainer and owners caught the Derby bug and finished 14th, trailing 44 lengths behind City of Troy.

Race 8 – The TRM – Supplements You Can Trust Race 1m
5 – Trinity College
Wayne Lordan has ridden this horse in his five starts, achieving one win and one second place. The race that stands out for me is the win at Galway over yielding ground, where he triumphed as the favorite by 12 lengths. His final start of the season resulted in a second place in a Group 3 at Leopardstown. Trained by Aidan O’Brien, I believe he is the one to beat.
1 – Acapulco Bay
He was entered in two races today, and this was my choice for which race he should run in. He has two starts and a win on good ground at the Curragh at one mile. The other race was at seven furlongs, where he finished second on good to firm ground. Soft ground is a concern, but his sire liked it, and this horse is trained by Aidan O’Brien.
3 – Green Triangle
He last ran in a group two race at Leopardstown and was beaten badly by over twelve lengths going one mile. His racing results are mixed, from good races to crashing into the rail at Killarney as the favorite. He ran second in his first start of his career, and I think he’s good enough to do that in this race.
