22 to 1 Tom’s Sha Tin Picks & Rich’s Sha Tin Ranks
RACE 6 – Private Banking Jockey Club Sprint (2:40 am ET)
Tom’s Picks
1 – Ka Ying Rising
He won the richest turf sprint in the world last time out. He beat the best turf sprinters in Australia, and many have gone on to win after the Everest. I think it’s 133 days to recover from the trip, and he won his barrier trial over a few good horses on the all-weather.
8 – Tomodachi Kokoroe
My second has won the last three races, including a Group Two last time out. He ran a good race time and ran from midpack to win. He received a weight advantage last time and added 8 lbs. He ran sixth in his barrier trial versus the top choice.
7 – Raging Blizzard
Closed from the back of the field to run second last time out. He’s a Group Three winner two starts back. I think he will close strongly again to get an in-the-money finish.
Rich’s Ranks
1 – Ka Ying Rising – don’t know how to get past this one at the top 17/15-2-0 and drops
7 – Raging Blizzard – will be closing – a little better barrier trial than it looks between starts
8 – Tomodachi Kokoroe – won 3 in a row and ran a second faster in last – regression coming?
5 – Beauty Waves – complete flyer – could be lone E with top pick riding shotgun – all others mid and back – right pace – ITM
RACE 7 – Private Wealth Jockey Club Mile (3:15 am ET)
Tom’s Picks
7 – My Wish
He won his last two races at 1600m and 1400m in Group Two and Three races. He was the favorite in both. He ran fourth to Red Lion in a Group One at 1600m. Prepped in a barrier trial running second to Ka Ying Rising. Very versatile.
2 – Galaxy Patch
Needed a race for a better effort today. Needed room in the straight last time and didn’t get it. With a better trip and draw, he should run better.
5 – Happy Together
Caught by My Wish last time and ran second. Barrier trials are okay. Should get a good run and finish third.
Rich’s Ranks
13 – Light Years Charm – PP 11 isn’t ideal but Zac Purton + extra distance
7 – My Wish – another heavy favorite that is hard to get around – faster in last
3 – Beauty Eternal – last race better than it looks, improved by more than 2 seconds
5 – Happy Together – doesn’t win much vs top company but runs on for ITM
RACE 8 – Jockey Club Cup (3:50 am ET)
Tom’s Picks
2 – Voyage Bubble
Ran 12th to My Wish last time, whip dropped late. Has big G1 wins and strong distance record. Switches to Zac today after 3rd in an all-weather trial.
1 – Romantic Warrior
Ran on dirt in Saudi, then returned to turf in Dubai finishing second. Off since May but has three trials and won the last. One of the best in the world.
4 – Straight Arron
Closed for 4th last out vs My Wish. Extra distance might help, though results mixed. Taking him on the prior sharp effort.
Rich’s Ranks
1 – Romantic Warrior – impossible to get by; 3/5 might be a steal
9 – Ka Ying Generation – nothing in barrier works says pick me, but distance record strong
2 – Voyage Bubble – standout vs rest, but last race was ugly
RACE 9 – BoC Credit Card Handicap (4:25 am ET)
Tom’s Picks
3 – Star Rise
Two Hong Kong starts: good second, then fourth with trouble. Two wins in Australia. Clean trip = win.
1 – Public Attention
Top weight and deserving. G3 winner in Australia at this distance. First Hong Kong start. Winning barrier trials.
5 – Sky Joy
Moving up in class. Nearly won a Class 3 last time. Good trial. Improving but drew post 14.
Rich’s Ranks
5 – Sky Joy – times say he’s a second faster than the rest
12 – Vermilion Tempest – 1-for-1 with upside for race 2
11 – Always Ahead – only 6f try fits; competitive
8 – Szeryng – public choice with Zac; must improve 2nd up
RACE 10 – BoC Pay+ Handicap (5:00 am ET)
Tom’s Picks
8 – Tin Fook
Fourth last out behind a slow pace; third before that vs fast pace. Will be wide but pace should collapse for him.
3 – Everyone’s Star
Won three back, two seconds since from wide posts. Wide again but in form with Zac aboard.
14 – Blazing Wukong
Up in class after third. Carried huge weights lately; gets relief here. Tongue tie may have helped. Worth a shot.
Rich’s Ranks
3 – Everyone’s Star – distance final times say he’s tough
12 – Stellar Swift – longshot that could fire fresh
1 – Brilliant Express – big 3rd-up move incoming
4 – Master Of All – resume gave him edge over 2, 10, 13
