22 to 1 Tom’s Tips
Race 1
5 – Honest Rogue – showed speed to the 1/8 pole and then backed up. Newly gelded, switch jockeys. Based on the numbers, lone speed?
3 – Catalina Kid – nothing in the slop last out, better first start, both at MTH, the workouts are average. Favorite may be a bit overbet.
9 – Downpatrick – first time starter, ok workouts, the trainer hasn’t won this year but from 13 starts 3 seconds, and 2 thirds.
Race 2
3 – Anna Rocks – ok effort last out at LRL, wide run, won at PEN at this level, needs to be close to the lead to have a chance.
2 – Abidale – has speed, last five races have been good, ok at distance and should be the favorite.
4 – Musical Cat – showed speed on the turf and dropped back last out, claimed three back and has had issues at the start. Could win or last.
Race 3
4 – Mansueto – awful first race, blew the start and never was in the race. Drops from MSW, adds blinkers, better start, better results.
11 – Call Me a Dreamer – speed last out and beat by a nose, best race of his race career, outside post is a concern if he doesn’t clear, favorite.
1 – Grunion – 7yo with a 3 race career, placed third in a moved turf race so with a better start may be do better
Race 4
3 – Chasing Artemis – try to find that magic level to win at, 5k may be the place, won MC at DEL and has run ok overall in last 4 races. Moved up in last race at TIM.
9 – Sansa Ariel – big drop in class, issues in last race at TIM, won over the track but it’s been awhile. Put in on drop only is this enough to win?
1 – Gem Cat – drops after two not get efforts but did show speed in last, won MC by a nose on the turf, a maiden on the dirt but could pickup a share here.
Race 5
3 – Izzybelle – has speed, won at this distance, last race was too far. Her race to lose if the pace is too fast.
6 – Indy Again – MTO entry will be the favorite, comes off two wins, comes off brief layoff and workouts are ok.
2 – Ms Boombastic – moves up in class and likes to run third. Gaining last time so this could be a nice step up in form run.
Race 6
3 – No More Talk – ran last at SAR for the bottom at that track, drops and has won at 10k level. A question of form but the drop may be what he needs.
5 – First Rule – speed, off claim, moves up, last three races are very good at the 5k level.
1 – Classy Solution – speed, won last two, should be challenged for the lead, hang on for a piece of the purse.
Race 7
2 – Kobla Mas – off claim, trainer 25% win record 1st up, blinkers off, three works for prepare for this race, been completive in lower level races.
4 – Boss Logic – MTO draws in, since layoff has been rolling long with two wins and one second at various tracks, will be the favorite.
7 – Two by Two – off claim, won last two races on the turf but has good record on dirt too, left in the race so with form and record you must consider.
Race 8
3 – Whiskey Prize – some interest last race but didn’t finish, drops back to MC and this right spot. Trainer strong numbers: 37% maiden to maiden claimers, 31% sprint to route, 25% in maiden claimers. Those are very good numbers.
7 – Wind Event – adventures in his first start, better in last race moving at the end, I think he will be closer to the pace and should pickup a piece here.
11 – The Last Jumpstart – draws in, ran ok last out after three average to bad races, a bit wide in last (again, needs a better trip.)
