Best Bet – Race 9: SWEET SERENADE (PP: 6 ML 5/2)
Ron’s Comments:
“SWEET SERENADE is debuting locally after pair of troubled outings vs allowance company on the Woodbine Tapeta, including her last, when she was
bumped, pinched backed, blocked, and still managed to finish 2nd. Trainer Roger Attfield has Irad atop the daughter of Tonalist.”
Long Shot – Race 10: SPACE RUNNER (PP: 4 ML 12-1)
Ron’s Comments:
“SPACE RUNNER is dropping to the $50,000 level, and debuting on the turf, in the first start since showing speed and weakening in a monster ‘key race’ on the dirt that’s produced 6 next-out winners from 11 starters. Trainer Giberto Zerpa, 23% with his
turf sprinters, has Emisael Jaramillo atop this intriguing longshot..”
Acacia Courtney (house handicapper)
Best Bet – Race 9: GRAND AVE GIRL (PP: 8 ML 7/2)
Acacia’s Comments:
“Trainer David Fawkes really seemed to figure out with horses in his barn suit the tapeta track. Grand Ave Girl is just another example of that, as she broke her maiden by open lengths last time out when switching to this surface. She has to come back and do it again when facing winners for the first time, but if she runs anything close to that 81 Beyer Speed Figure, she should crush this field. Tyler Gaffalione takes the call and she draws favorably outside the other speed.”
Long Shot – Race 10: SPACE RUNNER (PP: 4 ML 12-1)
Acacia’s Comments:
“I’m hoping to get a price in the nightcap. This gelding hasn’t run since the first week of August, so the layoff is a concern, but I do like that he comes back and is protected, as opposed to being in for the optional claiming tag that this race offers. There
is some sneaky turf pedigree here, too. Sire Brody’s Cause is by prolific turf sire Giant’s
Causeway, and the second dam was a six-time turf winner, and in fact won a stake on grass at Arlington during her career. Gilberto Zerpa is surprisingly 6-for-30 with maidens trying turf for the first time, with a $2.10 ROI.”
Brian Nadeau (house handicapper)
Best Bet – Race 3: LEFTHOOKLIGHTSOUT (PP: 6 ML 3-1)
Brian’s Comments:
“Lightly raced 3yo off the Delgado claim (24%) stretches out, drew well, gets Lopez, and meets a field there for the taking.”
Long Shot – Race 10: BANKER’S HOURS (PP: 1 ML 8-1)
Brian’s Comments:
“MSW dropper is a first-time gelding for Joseph, who is 26% with second-out maidens, and this one can stalk all the speed as well.”
Pedro Casella (house handicapper)

Special Ranking – Race 9: SWEET SERENADE (PP: 6 ML 5/2)

“Pulled away eagerly in initial route attempt and moves back into state-bred company.”
Best Bet – Race 6: JOHNNYSLITTLEGIRL (PP: 3 ML 9/5)
Craig’s Comments:
“Wide move behind runaway odds-on chalk in local bow; drops with blinkers on.”
