Rich’s Ranks
Race 1: 1 Mile Turf – Bias: Tactical Speed, 2+ Fair with a Rail Penalty
Looks like all will be chasing the 7, fractions will determine if he can go w2w
7 – SUMTER – Lone E and has a +EP edge, TLRSP# and resume says the same or a touch better in round 2 off the bench
1 – BALNIKHOV – right distance 4/3-1-0, a nose from winning 4 races after a break, including debut
3 – I’M A GAMBLER – A million dollar horse with a group win in Britain, good surface record is concern, might like softer footing than he’ll get in California
6 – HANDY DANDY – was better early in last, usually a strong on the backend, always in the trifecta in 7 at the distance
Suggested Wager: $0.50 Trifecta: 1,7/1,3,7/1,3,4,6,7
Race 2: 1 Mile – Bias: Early Speed with a Rail and 8+ Bonus, 2/3 a Little Penalty
Looks like there will be plenty speed up font, usually speed of the speed or stalkers
2 – PURIFIED – Left Arrow Horse with +9 EP edge at 4f and +LP
3 – BLETCHLEY PARK – big mid move in last and big jump higher in only other 2nd race after a break
6 – PALAGIO – a little better fractions last out and potential to rise up the ladder in second after a layoff
1 – PRINCIP – better times at 1 mile vs 7f in debut, gets the rail bonus and Flavien Prat
Suggested Wager: $0.50 Pick Four: 2/1,2/3,5,7,8/2,4,5,7,12
Race 3: 1 1/8 Miles Turf – Bias: Off the Pace in the 6 races with a Strong Inside 3 Bias
Pace work suggests all horses could get the trip they are looking for
1 – RIP CITY – Lone EP Horse with SA #s that are as good as any and 9/4-3-0 at SA
2 – MASTEROFFOXHOUNDS – TLRSP#, tends to regress a little in R2 off the bench and after Peak Pace numbers
3 – DICEY MO CHARA – this one is more likely than not to get better in R2 off the bench
6 – PRINCE ABAMA – won last out at 1 ½ miles, took a little step back in last, yet to win at SA or Distance
Suggested Wager: $1 Exacta Key Box: ½,3,5,6,7
Race 4: 6 Furlongs – Bias: Early Speed with a Small Inside 3 Bias and 8+ Penalty
A bunch of first time starters, so you don’t know what you are going to get when the gates open
3 – FAUSTIN – You just can’t look past the Dec 10th 4f work of 46.4 – that’s blazing for this 800k Baffert 1st timer
8 – QUINCY MARKET – bullet and go for a potential bomb
7 – WORCESTER – another from the Baffert barn and the series of 3 bullets from Nov 27th thru Dec 5th says he’s fast too
5 – YELLOW BRICK – we’ll stick with the 1st timers and roll with Prat and Madella over the rail
Suggested Wager: $1 Double: 3/2,4,5,7,8,10,12
Race 5: 1 Mile Turf – Bias: Tactical Speed, 2+ Fair with a Rail Penalty
A lot of backend horses, early speed could have an edge here
5 – DANDY MAN SHINES – been facing much tougher than anybody else, question is, is a mile too short?
2 – HAWKER – lacked room late in last start, otherwise might have the maiden win already. Two nice works since
12 – ZIO JO – Left Arrow Horse in race that doesn’t have a lot of EP, increases Speed Figure in last 3 and has a bunch of good works
7 – ESCAPE ARTIST – Like that Dec 10th work with some of the best turf Pedigree, tough call over the 4, but the 4 comes from a 2nd tier English Track
Suggested Wager: $0.50 Trifecta: 2,5,12/2,5/2,4,5,7,12
Race 6: 1 1/16 – Bias: Early Speed, PPs look Fair, maybe 2/3 Bonus
Could be some early pace here, but reasonable pace
1 – HOPKINS – taking a big step up in class, but likely pacesetter stretching out for the first time, Hernandez rides here instead of 6
6 – COUNTRY GRAMMER – maybe the class horse, but man he loves to hang late, three 2nds in last three and five of last seven
5 – HEYWOODS BEACH – TLRSP#, usually runs well off the bench, Fast 7/3-1-2
3 – BREAKFAST RIDE – 2nd off a layoff with some good works between races, really will need up his game to compete with top 3
Suggested Wager: $0.50 Trifecta: 1,6/1,5,6/1,2,3,5,6
Race 7: 6 ½ Furlongs Turf – Bias: Stalkers with a 4+ Bias
A lot of early pace potential here, could favor and off the pace horse or speed of the speed
1 – FLAME MCGOON – Lone EP horse that can sit behind the wall of speed and go, post hurts
8 – BIG BEAUTY – Flavien, will be coming at the end, but likes 2nd SA 6/1-4-0
11 – TRUE PATRIOT – 3rd off a layoff, two nice maintenance works between races and SA 3/0-3-0
9 – LA DEUXIEME ETOILE – will be coming at the end and should not be too far off the pace
Suggested Wager: $0.50 Trifecta: 1,8,11/1,8/1,5,8,9,11
Raec 8: 7 Furlongs – Bias: Early Speed with an Inside 3 Bias, Only 5 Races though
Looks like a lot of pace on paper, but mostly pressure types plenty of room in backstretch to get into position
4 – MIDNIGHT MEMORIES – winner 4/5 and 3 for 3 at SA, a bunch of nice works since last
6 – FUN TO DREAM – has a +8 LP edge and should have plenty of tiring horses to catch
1 – UNDER THE STARS – tough call over the 3, but been running against better and works look strong getting ready
3 – GANADORA – Lone EP horse and really benefits from the 2 scratching
Suggested Wager: $0.50 Pick Four: 1,4,6/3/1,6,9/1,5,6,9,11
Race 9: 1 1/8 Miles Turf – Bias: Off the Pace in the 6 races with a Strong Inside 3 Bias
Most horses want to come from off the pace, early pace could have the edge here – wide open race
3 – BALLET DANCING – top closer that should improve 2nd after a layoff
7 – MYFAVORITEDAUGHTER – winner 2 in a row and Joe Bravo stays here instead of the 9
12 – KARAKATSIE – Lone P horse, could end up with the perfect trip
2 – PRECIOUS BABY – has a +6 EP edge and there is not a lot of speed here, tough call out of MSW win
Suggested Wager: $0.50 Trifecta: 3,7/3,7,12/2,3,7,10,19
Race 10: 7 Furlongs – Bias: Early Speed with an Inside 3 Bias, Only 5 Races though
Speed could get away here if they aren’t careful as most are stalkers
6 – TAIBA – is the class of the field, but is capable of some stinkers
9 – STRAIGHT NO CHASER – has a lot of early wheels, likely pacesetter, if the opening quarter is 45, might not be caught
1 – FORBIDDEN KINGDOM – another that will compete for the lead, 50/50 2nd after a layoff but sharp work between races favors an uptick here
3 – APPREHEND – is undefeated in two here and flips the result from Zia last out with the 7
Suggested Wager: $1 Exacta Key Box: 9/1,2,3,6,7
Race 11: 1 ¼ Miles Hillside Turf – Bias: Just 2 Races both wire to wire
A lot of closers here, get to the front and it could be 3 w2w winners
6 – MISE EN SCENE – because this race lacks frontrunners, could be the pacesetter and best races came close to the front
9 – SALIMAH – Flavien gets off the 5 to ride this one, better horse or wants more mounts with Brown in NY?
1 – RHEA MOON – has a +6 LP edge and distance probably isn’t an issue
5 – BELLSTREET BRIDIE – won US debut with ease and we know the distance isn’t an issue 5/0-2-2
