Flemington Horse Racing Picks and Analysis

22 to 1 Tom’s Tips

Race 5

3 – Wishlor Lass – Barrier 6

After finishing sixth in her first try in Group 1, she was prepared for a barrier trial and won. She has a spotless record at this distance, winning four of four tries. She is also two for two in Group 3 races. She’s run at the distance of 1600m in her last two races, now back to 1400m, and with good prep, she should win.

8 – Forbidden City – Barrier 9

She is really good at finishing in the money at this distance with a record of 11 starts and 6 placings (no wins). In her last race, she did what she was best at, running third at 1400m at Caulfield in a BM84 race. She’s placed three times in group 3 races from six tries. Placing her yes, winning unlikely.

1 – Revolutionary Miss – Barrier 1

After running third in her last race in at listed race at Gold Coast as the favorite. She is using a barrier trial for prep for this race. She has won at this level and will be competitive if you toss her last effort.

Race 6

11 – La Casona – Barrier 4

One for one with a win in maiden race at 1300m. Very quick 600m and went wire to wire. Moves up here but I think she can do it again.

8 – Thailess – Barrier 3

Winner of her last two races in lower benchmark and maiden races. She saw went wire to wire in both races. She placed in four other races before her win streak. As with most in this field, distance is a question but running or winning in six of her seven races is good for me to see her running in the money.

3 – Basilinna – Barrier1

An average effort in her barrier trial, running eighth but has a record of five starts and four times in the money. The one win was at Cranbourne, going 1600m while running close to the pace. Time wasn’t very fast, but she proved she could get herself in the money in her other races. I run with that and is best placed to run third.

Race 7

7 – Otago – Barrier 3

He has two career starts and two wins and has won at this distance at Flemington at a lower level. He won his barrier trial as prep to this race and appears to be ready to move up to this level. He should be forwardly placed early in the race.

1 – Riff Rocket – Barrier 5

Comes into this race off two very average barrier trials running fourth and sixth. He’s not won at this distance from one try but has won a Group 1 at Flemington at 2500m and has two wins from three starts at this track. A Midpack runner who has a record of seven starts and four wins and two placings. My question with this horse is the distance to restart his racing career.

8 – Cap Ferrat – Barrier 7

He comes into this race after two barrier trials that were useful. His last two races were at the Group 3 and Group 1 levels, where he ran third and second, both at Caulfield. This is first start at this track and for a horse who has never won, he’s placed four out his nine starts.

Race 8

4 – Imperatriz – Barrier 2

She comes into this race after winning her last five races in a row at distances of 1000m to 1200m and her last win was at Flemington. She can run on the lead or come from far back and is two for two at this distance. Her last three races were in group 1 races and she the favorite in my opinion and the one to beat.

8 – I Am Unstoppable – Barrer 3

Her form is good but not a winning one in her last three races but running second is not bad either. She’s been sitting mid pack and in on race may have made a premature move to first on the turn to still run second. She’s one for one at this distance and maybe this is her distance. She never been out of the money in her six race career.

1 – Private Eyes – Barrier 8

In the last three races, he has won or placed in these races including winning a Group 2 and running in the Everest and Giga Kick. These are all big-money races. He comes into this race off average barrier trial but reduces distance off the last race. I think he is good enough to run in the money.

Race 9

11 – Ka Bling – Barrier 3

In his career, he has 25 starts, 6 wins, and 11 placings, and he has done well at this distance, running 8 starts, three wins, and two placings. He comes into this race after a good effort in a listed race at Caulfield at 1400m. This is his ninth start, and he runs with a synthetic hoof filler for the first time, so this placing is interesting with no runs at Flemington and the changes. I am looking for a price here.

8 – Windstorm – Barrier 8

After running very poorly in her last race, she’s been off for over 40 months. Coming into this race, he has two barrier trials and improves off his first effort, running eighth and the fourth. They were good times. His first-up record is good, with two wins and one placing from three starts. Yes this is a long time off but they owners and trainer have been patience and maybe they were right to wait for this place to restart his racing career.

4 – Savannah Cloud – Barrier 12

She lost in her last two races against Group 1 & 2 company, so dropping back to a level where she had done better in the past. She like this distance running first twice and placing in four races from eight tries. At this course, she has four placing from five starts. In her better efforts, she been close to the pace.

8 – WINDSTORM – been off for forever, since NOV 2020 – was legit before heading to the bench, this seems to be a vote of confidence from connections, why not start vs a softer bunch
