22 to 1 Tom’s International Tips
Race 6 – FLEMINGTON 1600m Blamey Stakes 3U OPEN G2 Prizemoney: $300,000
5 – Mr. Brightside
10 starts 6 wins 2 placings
Only a listed winner but is 5 from 6 at the distance
In his only grade 1 race, he ran 4th sitting 5th most of the race, move forward here?
Is this horse a distance specialist? Maybe but this is the race to prove it
1-Zaaki
30 starts 10 wins 9 placings
9 starts at the distance 2 wins 3 placings
A 3 times winner at group 1 level and a winner of 1400m to 2200m
His top dog here, the question off layoff, he’s won 3 times from 7 starts
He won his last start at this track
6 – Corner Pocket
10 starts 8 wins 2 placings
Never ran this distance and is stepping up
He’s a 5-year-old gelding who appears to be getting better with patience and age
6 for 6 in his last races
Steps up big time but certain knows how to win
Race 7 -FLEMINGTON 1600m Australian Guineas 3 OPEN SW G1 Prizemoney: $1,000,000
3 – Profondo
3 starts 2 wins 1 placing
Never ran this distance but is 1 for 1 in group 1 races
Prep barrier trials were a 1st at 1175m and average run in his first race
His going to sit close to the lead and will win by 1L or 2L
9 – Pinstriped
3 starts 3 wins
No races at this distance but won last at 1400m in group 3 race
Has handle all type of track condition so far
Maybe farther back this time because there are 4 horses with speed in here
2 – Captivant
13 starts 2 wins 5 placings
2 starts at the distance 1 win 1 second
2 races this season in group 3 with a 6th and then 3rd, improving efforts but still sitting mid-pack in the field
Failed as the favorite last out
He is a group 1 winner but he misbehaved at the starting gate last and had a vet check in his first start ordered by the stewarts and found nothing
I think he’s good enough to get a placing
Race 5 – RANDWICK 1000m Challenge Stakes 3U OPEN G2 Prizemoney: $500,000
1 – Nature Strip
35 starts 19 wins 7 placings
At the distance 16 starts 9 wins 4 placings
A winner at distance from 1000m to 1200m with a 54% win rate
Needs first start of the season, running 7th moving on the turn to run 2nd all that with being blocked
Both his barrier trials were good coming into the last race
5 – Ahead Start
7 starts 3 wins 2 placings
At the distance, 2 starts 1 win 1 placing
Ok barrier trial before last race running 4th in class 3 race. Ok this is a group 1 race and big step up but with all the scratches, why not
2 – Eduardo
25 starts 10 wins 9 placings
At the distance 6 starts 2 wins 2 placings
Ran 3rd all the way around the track to run, 3rd
Won both barrier trials
Maybe runs this time on the front end this time?
Race 7 – RANDWICK 1300m Canterbury Stakes 3U OPEN G1 Prizemoney: $500,000
9 – Forbidden Love
20 starts 6 wins 6 placings
Never ran this distance but won at 1200m to 1400m
Group 2 winner at 1400m last out
Winner at group 1 level
Beaten the boys before but her record 3rd up is on 2 placings
Will settle close to the leaders and move late
10 – Lighthouse
15 starts 7 wins 5 placings
At this distance, 2 starts 1 win
Group 1 placed last out sitting 3rd and ran on for 2nd
Good form and should be right there at the end
8 – Laws of Indices
13 starts 3 wins 1 placing
1 start at the distance
Needed start in Australia, first run and has won after first start
Group 1 winner in France at 1400m
If ready, could be the winner
Race 8 – RANDWICK 1600m Randwick Guineas 3 OPEN SW G1 Prizemoney: $1,000,000
4 – Coastwatch
12 starts 3 wins 4 placings
1 starts at the distance and ran 4th
Winner last out in group 2 sitting 2nd in most of race and move with 600m to go
Used 2 barrier trials to prepare for the race
He’s placed in group 1 race and maybe a benefit of age and developed more fully
Steps up in distance so let’s see what he can do over the track condition
1 – Anamore
13 starts 6 wins 6 placings
He’s 1 for 1 at the distance
Has raced 2 times this season both in group 2 races and ran 3rd in first start and won this next start
In he’s win, he was more forwardly placed, and I think that will be his running style again
With his 3rd race of the season, in the past he is 2 for 2
Excellent form and the one to beat
12 – Sinba
5 starts 3 wins 1 placing
2 races at the distance with 1 win 1 placing
He’s coming off 2 wins at lower level, so this is a big step up
He appears to want to run just behind the mid-pack group and moves just after the turn for home
Like my top pick, maturity may have benefited this horse and not being too aggressive by owners/trainers help.
