Rosehill Horse Racing Picks

22 to 1 Tom’s Rosehill Tips

Race 3 CINCOTTA CHEMIST MAGIC NIGHT STAKES 1200m 2F OPEN G3

3 – Fly Fly – Barrier 5

She came from way back in the field last out to get second after getting bumped at the start. In her first start, she was close to the pace. With a good break, she will again be up with the leaders and go on and win.

5 – Chateau Miraval – Barrier 3

She showed speed last out but retreated to run fourth last time out. She won her maiden, going wire to wire. Based on the speed map, she’s the lone speed in this race, and she could take them all the way, but I think my top choice will catch her at the end.

10 – She Smashes – Barrier 6

She won her maiden race last time out, being close to the pace. Her fine time was quick for the 1200m. She ran third in her first start. This is a big step up, but if she shows some good speed again, she can get a placing against this field.

Race 4 TAB PAGO PAGO STAKES 1200m 2CG OPEN G3

4 – Anode – Barrier 11

A quick winning barrier trial as prep for this race. He won his first start going wire to wire. Next start, from barrier eleven, he was pushed forward in the race, sat second, could not go on, and held third. But the loss was less than one length. He’s running in the money from outside the barrier and should show good speed again.

7 – Gatsby’s – Barrier 3

He ran one race in his maiden event and won, showing good pace. He ran second for most of the race before catching the leader. He faces tougher competition here but has a good draw and should show speed again to get a placing.

1 – Coleman – Barrier 5

He aggressively placed in his last race, a big money group 1, and he should have nothing, but the comment was “over raced”. He won his first two starts, including a group 3 race at 1000m. Last start, he was the favorite and should be again.

Race 5 JAMES SQUIRE SKY HIGH STAKES 2000m 3U OPEN G3

4 – Just Fine – Barrier 5

After a layoff, he showed good speed in the last race. He was running first early in the race and then back up to finish last of eight. He needed the race. His record second up is 4 starts and 3 wins. He’s a group 1 winner at longer distances, but this distance may suit him for a better result here.

3 – Lindermann – Barrier 4

He improved after his layoff in these past two races. He ran sixth in his first start and then third in his last start in a group one. He showed speed in both of those races and should be forwardly placed again. He likes this course with two starts and two wins and has a win at this distance.

8 – Athabascan – Barrier 2

His first start off a layoff was running sixth verse group 1 races and back in the field by over six lengths. This is a reasonable distance for him, with one win and three placings from eight starts. He won in a group 3 race and has one win over the course. It adds distance for this race, and that suits a good finish.

Race 6 CITY TATTERSALLS GROUP MAURICE MCCARTEN STAKES 1100m 3U G3

10 – Dashing Legend – Barrier 4

He is using two barrier trials as preparation for this race. He ran fifth and third, but the first trial was faster than the second. He only placed once in group races from four tries but is very good at this distance, with a record of six starts, four wins, and two placings. Think feel that at this distance with sitting off the speed of Red Card, he has a chance.

12 – Rich Fortune – Barrier 7

She ran in a group one last time out and was fifth by 2 ½ lengths. She was also up against two very good sprinters who ran one and two. In her latest past races, she has been running mainly against lesser companies, running at best third. She’s won over this distance but never ran at Rosehill. Her record in group three races is two starts, one win, and one placing. She should sit back in the pack and move later.

1 – Airman – Barrier 2

He ran well two races back, running second in a Group 3 race at Randwick, and then tried Group One company and failed but also ran against one of the best sprinters. He comes in off a layoff and barrier trial where he ran third. The two things that stick out and should make him the favorite are: he has done well at this distance, running twice and won one and placed in the other race. His first-up record is very good, with four starts, three wins, and one placing.

Race 7 CHANDON PHAR LAP STAKES   1500m 3 OPEN G2

11 – Zardozi – Barrier 10

He comes into this race off a poor effort in group one at Randwick, going 1400m. This was his first start off a layoff. He never won at this racetrack or at this distance but has won races of 1200m to 2500m and has a record of ten starts, five wins, and one placing, so he’s an all-or-nothing type of horse. He’s come off a bad run to win next out in group two, so I think he needed a race. So he wins or does nothing.

14 – Makareka – Barrier 9

She ran in a group one has time out and ran an ok fifth. She moved forward in the middle of the race and then backed up. This race was at 1400m. She won at the track and has won third up, one start, one win. She won or placed in four of five races. I think she will bounce back to run for some of the money here.

6 – Kintype – Barrier 7

He is one of the most experienced runners in this race, with sixteen starts but only two wins. He ran third last time out, coming from the back of the field, even though he was bumped with 200m left in the race. This is his second start off a layoff, and he has done well with three starts and two wins. He moves back up in class, so let’s see if this is the right spot for him.

Race 8 COOLMORE CLASSIC 1500m 3UFM G1

13 – Hell Hath No Fury – Barrier 3

In her past five races, she has been running very well with a win last time out in a group two at 1400m. In her prior races, she won two races, ran second in one and third in the other. She has been improving too with the last win at the highest level so far and has come from the benchmark 72 & 78 races. I think she’s the one to beat and you should get a good price.

1 – Zougotcha – Barrier 2

She won her last start at 1300m by a length in a group 2 at Rosehill. She is one for one at this distance and has two wins from four starts at this racetrack. The last race was coming off a layoff, and her second-up record was good, too: four starts, two wins, and one placing. They took the blinkers off at the last start, and you can see the results. She will continue to get better.

10 – Renaissance Women – Barrier 5

After her layoff, she ran eighth in group two, using two barrier trials to prepare for the race. Her record is good second up with four starts and three wins, but her record in group one is five starts and nothing to show for them. This group is tough, but too many top horses have wide barrier positions and could or will get in trouble early because of some of the inside speed. She sits behind the front runners and moves later, so she has a chance.

Race 9 ATC FOUNDATION AJAX STAKES 1500m 3U G2

13 – Amor Victorious – Barrier 7

He comes into this race off of two wins at 1400m and 1600m versus lesser company, but he has been winning almost three lengths. He prepped for the race in a barrier trial, running second in an average time. He has three runs at Rosehill with one win and a placing from three starts and has won at this distance two times from three starts. Yes, he is moving up, but he has been winning, and this is an excellent spot to get his first group win.

2 – Detonator Jack – Barrier 2

He comes into this race off a layoff and has had two barrier trials; he won the last one. He won a million-dollar race two starts back and then ran as the favorite in his next start. He was poor at effort, sitting back on the field and moving up, passing tired horses. For most of his reasonable efforts, he sits mid-pack before moving to the leaders. He has three first-up starts and has won two of them. Look for a much better effort off the layoff from him today.

3 – Phearson – Barrier 3

He came into the last race off a layoff and won by one length in group 3 at odds of 11-1. He had won before a layoff and did it again. He has placed 82% of the time in his seventeen starts and has a 35% win rate. He has won at this racetrack and is one-for-one at this distance. I don’t know if he can repeat it, but he is in the form of running in the money.

Rich’s Ranks

Race 3: CINCOTTA CHEMIST MAGIC NIGHT STAKES – 10:40 PM est

4 – Drifting – should get a good stalking tip and benefit from extra distance

3 – Fly Fly – flew in the stretch in her last, a better start and she could make it look easy

5 – Chateau Miraval – is going to set the pace, a little more late stamina and its w2w

2 – Castanya – probably going to be the favorite and should benefit from the extra distance too

Race 4: TAB PAGO PAGO STAKES – 11:15 PM est

6 – Duvana – big improvement in the 2nd career start, same move forward makes him a major threat

7 – Gtasby’s – debut says to keep an eye on this one, could be something special

4 – Asode – both of his two races were solid efforts, his fastest barrier trail between, going to be at his best here

Race 5: JAMES SQUIRE SKY HIGH STAKES – 11:50 PM est

3 – Lindermann – either of his last two are good enough, 2 for 2 in the winers’ enclosure at Rosehill

8 – Athabascan – has plenty of back class and I expect to see some of it in the 2nd up

5 – Stockman – tends to put together quality starts, plenty of hidden improvement in his last

2 – Explosive Jack – ran a dud in his first race back after an 11-month layoff- does have a group 1 win on the resume – I’ll take a crack at him finding some of that form a 61-1

Race 6: CITY TATTERSALLS GROUP MAURICE MCCARTEN STAKES – 12:25 AM est

7 – Omni Man – king of good footing – 7 races and 5 wins – classic 3rd start after a layoff

4 – Red Card – unbeaten in 2 at the track and another that likes good footing 11/6-1-0 – can win on the lead or pressing

11 – Libertad – favorite type to bet on AoN – 6/3-0-0 and all Ws in 5 at the distance – good going 3/2-0-0

12 – Rich Fortune – can’t bet against my name – 3 sp# increases in a row, Alpha Angle in the states, what not Australia too?

Race 7: CHANDON PHAR LAP STAKES – 1:00 AM est

2 – Les Vampires – should be on the front and not a ton of other speed in here – light fractions are the key

14 – Makarena – is two for two on a good surface and 1 for 1 at the track, should sit mid forward and try to close

5 – Saltcoats – decent first up effort at a weird 6 ¾ f – extra distance helps and maintenance workout between races means more fit

11 – Zardozi – pretty much win or bust – dull effort in first race after being sidelined for 4-months – has some of the most back class and finds some of it here

Race 8: COOLMORE CLASSIC – 1:35 AM est

9 – Madame Pommery – has some of the most back class, first up since Nov was solid, we’ll see more today

1 – Zougotcha – won his first race after 6 months off with a robust effort- same race equals the dame result

3 – Semana – in top form right now and should benefit from extra distance

2 – Revolutionary Miss – very consistent performer that is getting incrementally better race to race

Race 9: ATC FOUNDATION AJAX STAKES – 2:15 AM est

2 –  Phearson – just won a G3 in and benefits from extra distance in 2nd up

5 – Democracy Manifest – love good footing 14/5-4-2 – closer with extra runway today

4 – Bold Mac – trending higher from race to race – TLRSP#

8 – Welwal – strong closing effort in last and ran faster by about 2 seconds
