Winner at this distance but it was a long time ago
Since dropping out of the class rating in the 80’s, his run much better
Last race he sat middle position and move forward at 400m, he was out of the race by time, this was a 1200m race
Sit midpack and move late for the win
3 – Hyde Park – Draw 1
39 starts 4 wins 1 second 6 thirds
Winner last time out but at Jebel Ali
He’s been running on the lead but last race, he tracked the leader for the win
He has 24 runs at this distance with 3 wins 1 second 5 thirds
Class hike for sure but there not much in the race and he’s in form
2 – Shanty Star – Draw 3
21 starts 1 win 4 seconds 1 third
Drops in class from 80-95 and showed nothing last out
He’s last 2 races were on the turf, now back dirt
At Jebel Ali, he ran a good 3rd at this distance
He has in his last 5 races, tracked the leaders before going forward (or a lot of times backwards)
Race 5 – Land Rover (Handicap) (Turf)
3 – Good Tidings – Draw 4
14 starts 4 wins 2 seconds 2 thirds
A winner last out at this distance (or close 2410m) and has won before at this distance
He will track the leaders again; he won the race at the 400m mark with a strong move
Was move up in class after win at Abu Dhabi from 75-84 rated horses 2 races back
Forget all his dirt races, that’s not his surface and been distanced a few times
Coming off the win and the face the top 2 rated horse have never run this distance; I think he can repeat
4 – Mudaarab – Draw 9
22 starts 4 wins 1 second 3 thirds
Did nothing in last start vs listed horse, sat mid division and went backwards
A better effort in 70-90 race at 2000m with a run to 8th, that doesn’t sound like much but there were 16 horses in the field
Tried a grade 3 at Abu Dhabi and ran ok 5th
He’s run this distance with 3 runs and 2 thirds
Win? No, placing yes vs this group
8 – Act of Wisdom – Draw 5
10 starts 3 wins
None of the wins in Dubai
When shipper in from England, they ran him in dirt races twice with awful results
Back on the turf last time with 8th finish at 2000m
Now second start at this level on the turf, we should see better results
Ray Dawson has the mount for the first time
Race 6 – Al Tayer Motor (Handicap) (Turf)
2 – Albion Square – Draw 2
9 starts 1 win 1 second
First start last time out in Dubai at condition level, not much but many horses need a race to adjust
He’s races in top company in England running in group and listed races
This is a drop down in class but still has at 96 rating
This is a much better spot to show what he can do at 1000m
1 – Dahawi – Draw 8
22 starts 5 wins 6 seconds 2 thirds
He’s won on all surfaces – turf, dirt and all-weather
Winning effort last out at 1000m with :56.91 which is faster than the standard
Sat behind the leaders and move 400m swing outside to go, this was his first turf win from 5 prior attempts
Race before was at dirt effort at 1200m running 2nd
He tracked the leaders in that race too
3 – Thunder of Niagara – Draw 1
13 starts 2 wins and 2 thirds
Only 3 races prior in Dubai with 1 third
First try at this distance
He’s generally tracked the leader in his races in Dubai and England maybe they’re going try some different?
Patrick Cosgrave has the mount again and we may see better results but my concern in the class level
Race 7 – Jaguar F-PACE SVR (Handicap) (Dirt)
8 – Atlantic Sky – Draw 3
3 starts 1 win 1 second
2nd in condition race last out (restricted) move at 500m but couldn’t catch the leader
Maiden win at 1400m, so going 1800m for first time
He’s bred to be a miler, so he will have a chance to prove here
The handicapper gave him at rating on 78 and based on his 3 races that seems correct
5 – Scabbard – Draw 7
16 starts 2 wins 5 second 3 thirds
Coming in from Delaware Park, may need a start but what the heck
Given a rating of 85 so the handicapper thinks there is some here
He’s run some good races and decent speed numbers
Win? But finishing in the money, he has a chance for me
1 – Moqarrab – Draw 1
25 starts 3 wins 1 second 2 thirds
2 starts back, a winner on the dirt going 1400m
Switched to the turf, nothing. Beaten by 20L
Distance is an issue here, 6 starts and nothing yet but this was not at Meydan
Jockey switch to Dane O’Neill, the jockey that rode this horse in the last 2 starts is on my top choice
