Flemington Horse Racing Tips and Commentary
22 to 1 Tom’s International Tips
TAB Matriarch Stakes (G2) 2000m
2 – Polly Grey – Barrier
At the first start of the season, set the pace as the favorite but backed up to finish 4th.
Likes the distance with 3 wins and 4 placings from 11 starts
She only wins on soft or heavy going
This 8yo mare may just have enough to get home this time the winner going wire to wire
8 – Dynasties
With 3 starts this season, the best race was the last one in a listed race at Flemington.
Ran mid-pack most of the race and came on to get 4th
The first start was a 10th at Rosehill
Second, start a 5th at Caulfield
She’s won on the soft and heavy only
So far, she has not done well in group races but with these horses and a better run last out, I give her a chance to run in the money
7 – Foxy Frida
She’s raced 3 times this season and ran 4th in every race
They were ok efforts but running an even pace in 2 of the efforts
Why breakthrough here? Change of equipment, blinkers off, winkers on
The outside barrier doesn’t help for the win but I am looking for a placing
She has won at this distance and prefers the good to soft goings
Darley Champions Sprint (G1) 1200m
14 – Giga Kick
Winner of the Everest last time flying at the end to stay undefeated
First time at the distance
Jockey is winning at a 57% clip 7 starts 4 wins with the trainer
It’s hard to beat again?
12 – Levante
This will be her first start of the season and she is 3 for 3 first up
2 barrier trails with a win and a second, times not fast
She is 10 wins from 16 starts
Moved from New Zealand and first Australian start, she ran 4th in group 1 1200m sprint
If she is ready and returns in form as she did in New Zealand, she will be tough here
6 – Front Page
He won the other big race on Everest day, the Koshciuszo at 1200m
He come a long way open and listed races to the last win
The one bad race this season was at Flemington may a big move to run 12th after moving up to 3rd at the top of the stretch
He went off at 6-1 last time so I think the odds will be bigger
Off last, I will give him a chance
Kennedy Champions Mile (G1)1600m
3 – Cascadian
Winner of his last 2 races coming from mid-pack.
These were group 2 and 3 races at longer distances
Ok record at 1600m, 18 starts 3 wins 4 placings
In form, likes the soft going will be very tough again
2 – Private Eye
Ran second in the Everest 2 starts back
Then won the next start at Rosehill at 1300m
Quick turnaround again will that take too much out of the horse?
Well, why not run an in-form horse in group 1 at a distance he has won 2 out of 3 starts.
Going doesn’t matter, he’s won on all types of going
Can he do it again?
8 – Tuvalu
Won last time out in group 1 at Caulfield at this distance.
Generally is the speed in the race but last time sat in 3rd before going on to win
In the last 12 months, he has never been out of the money in 8 races
I think he can hang around again for a placing
TAB Champions Stakes (G1) 2000m
7 – Anamore
3 starts this season and 3 wins in Group 1 company at 3 different tracks
Wins on all type of going so the soft will be to his likely again
He will again sit close to the pace and get up in a time like he did last time.
Favorite
3 – Mo’unga
Ran 5th last out at Moonee Valley with issues in the race but ran the fastest last 200m of any horse in the race
In the past 6 races, he’s run in the money 4 out of 6 times
Distance suits, better trip, better results
8 – Hinged
The first season start was a 5th in an open company race at Rosehill
He’s won 1 group 1 race from 9 starts but finished in the money 5 times at this level
The stat that really caught my eye was when he has a second start of the season, 4 races 3 wins 1 placing
This looks like a good spot to hit the board but there are many good horses he will have to beat
World Horse Racing Grand Handicap BM80 1100m
6 – Taunting
The first start of the season was a 2nd in BM78 race at Moonee Valley
This is a lightly raced 4yo with 9 starts 4 wins 3 placings
At this distance, 4 starts 3 wins 1 placing
He sat mid-pack and moved from 7th to get up for a second
14 – Hypothetical
Very lightly raced 4yo mare with 4 starts 3 wins 1 placing
Won last at Geelong in BM64 race sitting 4th to come on and win
She won on good and soft going
I think she will give this field all then can handle even with the class rise
3 – Joyful Fortune
Won a listed race last out at Flemington running close to the pace
In theory, this is a slight drop in class
The first start of the season was in the Everest and he was way over his head running 10th
Should be the favorite but I will try to beat him with some improving horses
