Glorious Goodwood Horse Racing Picks and Commentary

22 to 1 Tom’s International Tips

Glorious Goodwood – Day 3

2:25 – Race 2

Richmond Stakes (Group 2) (Colts & Geldings) (IRE Incentive Race) Cl1 (2yo) 6f

3 – Chateau – Draw 7

4 starts 2 wins 1 third

Won a listed race at Newbury last out after a good effort in listed race at Royal Ascot

He had problems at the start, sat behind the leaders, had no place to go with 2F to go, switched right and won

This is a good race to get a group win

6 – Marshman – Draw 1

1 start 1 win

Won first out at Ayr in maiden with some adventures, reared at the start, raced in the rear first part of the race, move up and took the lead

I don’t know if he beat anything, but he did well with greenness and issues

7 – Royal Scotsman – Draw 5

3 starts 1 win

After novice win, they put him in against group 2 company at Royal Ascot and he ran a good 3rd beaten by 1 3/4L

He had not extra at the end but I think he was used a bit early in the race

Nice spot for a placing

Favorite

3:00 – Race 3

John Pearce Racing Gordon Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (3yo) 1m4f

6 – Jack Darcy

2 starts 2 wins

One start this year, won by 4 1/2L very easily

One start last year, won by a head

Both races were novice races, so this is a big step up

Slow developing 3yr who may surprise here

8 – New London – Draw 6

4 starts 3 wins 1 second

Won last out at Newmarket in handicap by 3L as the favorite looked really good and high mark

Lost group 2 race at Chester in small field to the winner who won again in group race at Ascot

One start as a 2yr improving horse who wants distance

Favorite, one to beat

4 – Grand Alliance – Draw 3

7 starts 2 wins 2 seconds 1 third

Ran 2nd to Changingoftheguard by a head at Royal Ascot in group 2 race

Worst race was in the Epsom Derby and was broken out in the paddock and basically ran his race before the race – toss

Started on the AW (3 races) then moved to the turf

A group 3 at distance makes a lot of sense and should run well here

3:35 – Race 4

Qatar Nassau Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Fillies & Mares) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m2f

7 – Nashwa – Draw 9

5 starts 3 wins 2 thirds

Winning of a French classic last out at Chantilly as the favorite by a neck. Group 1 race

Ran a good third to Tuesday in the Epson Oaks Group 1

She again the favorite, in form and should very tough to beat

2 – Dreamloper – Draw 6

15 starts 5 wins 1 second 3 thirds

Tried and failed last out at the Curragh in group 1

Jockey said after the race that her poor performance was because of the soft to yielding going

Winner of group 1 at ParisLongchamp in nice run.

When ask to go, she did and was ridden out

Start season with group 2 at Newmarket by a nose

If you toss her last race and she likes the turns and rolling going at Goodwood like she did at Newmarket, she will be tough here

8 – One For Bobby – Draw 8

4 starts 2 wins 1 third and one forgettable race

Group 2 at the Curragh, ran 3rd at a price, did enough to run 3rd but she sat back and moved up then didn’t finish

Toss the Naas race, favorite ran at the rear, move up at 3F left to go and then flatten out with nothing more to give. Move too early?

This one need to be closer to the pace and new jockey Frankie Dettori will help place her in a better spot to have a chance

Yes, this is a big step up but take a shot or she runs last
