Royal Ascot Horse Racing Tips and Comments

22 to 1 Tom’s International Tips

2:30

Chesham Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (2yo) 7f

1 – One World – Draw 4

Start slowly but was right behind the leaders, made up ground with 3F to go ask to go and did to lead 1F out, headed and then came on again to win.

This was on soft going

Frankie is riding a 2-year-old who hasn’t won, and Colin Keene picks up this mount.

2 – Alzahir – Draw 4

Missed by a head in first race at York behind Naval Power in novice race

He led late in the race and the winner came back

Good going in this race

Learned in the race but is it enough to win here?

Both these horses had challenging runs

14 – Lakota Sioux – Draw 9

2 races, both at 7F

The win was at Lingfield was nice run and by 6 1/2L as the favorite

Ran third by 1/2L trying to go wire to wire

Learned and much better next out win

Going in both races was good and may run on or near the lead

3:05

Jersey Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (3yo) 7f

4 – Audience – Draw 3

Won first start at Newmarket as a 2-year-old by 3 3/4L then put away

2 races at 3 first back at Newmarket running 2nd by 3/4L as favorite in class 3 race

Again, as the favorite, ran at Kempton running 2nd by 1 1/2L on the AW. Interesting using this race a prep for this run

Steps up in class

The other interest move is using Ryan Moore on the horse for the Gosden’s and he normally doesn’t ride for the Gosden’s.

9 – Noble Truth – Draw 14

Won last out at Newmarket by 6F at today’s distance by 6L

First of the season race was in the Saudi Derby losing big time on the dirt to Pinehurst and Sekiu (Baffert and Take). We don’t know what kind of horses these are to this point

2-year-old racing was start in June 2021 with a win in 2nd start and win in listed race at Doncaster.

The other run to note is his ParisLongchamp run in the heavy going in group1 losing by 3/4L

Does he have what it will take to win at 7F here? Only one of his races was at a difference.

10 – Samburu – Draw 10

Undefeated in 3 runs and all at 7F.

Won novice race in first start at Yarmouth by 1 3/4L the layoff

Came back in April to win in another novice race at Salisbury

Last out in class 3 race, won by 1/2L at York in nice race with some issues to overcome

Going in these races was good to soft, good to fast and good

Steps up and Frankie Dettori rides again

3:40

Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2) Cl1 (4yo+) 1m4f

3 – Hurricane Lane – Draw 5

Here’s a group 1 winner in top 3 year old races coming back in group2 for his 4 year old debut

Won 3 in a row before running 3rd in the Arc in first run vs older horses.

The winners were all good start with Irish Derby, Grand Prix de Paris and the St Leger. 3rd in the Epson Derby.

All top races and if ready, he wins comfortably

BC runner?

4 – Layfayette – Draw 4

Winner of last 2 at 10F at the Curragh in group 3 and 2 races and prior race a listed race at Naas. After not much as a 4 year old, he’s turned in on so far as a five year old

He’s been only ok before with wins and placings in minor type races

He could be very good going forward but running into Hurricane Lane at this point will make for an interesting challenge

8 – Third Realm – Draw 8

Won last at Doncaster by 6L in listed race going 12F

First start was 3rd in listed race at Ascot

He’s run well in listed races and lower and been completive vs group type horse

Steps up off last 2 runs

4:20

Platinum Jubilee Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) Cl1 (4yo+) 6f

1 – A Case Of You – Draw 27

Ran into a “hot” horse last out in Brad The Brief running 3rd at the Curragh

2 excellent races in Dubai with 1 win and 1 second beating good horses like Casa Creed (who just won at Belmont)

This maybe the case of a horse needing a race after running in Dubai, very common

He ran 5th to Golden Pal in the BC race and won before that race at ParisLongchamp

He is a 6F specialist

13 – Home Affairs – Draw 17

Toss last, ran 9th at Flemington – he broke well, move ok but didn’t finish or have anything

At 5F, he beat Nature Strip at Flemington by a neck

The Australia runner has been targeted for this race and what a field to face.

Group 1 winner will have a great challenge ahead of him if he can pull this win off

8 – Glen Shiel – Draw 18

Ran 4th last out but was broken out prior to the race, went for the lead and generally this race was a mess

Ran 2nd in previous start and much better effort – Brad The Brief won both of these races

End of season was one of his best effort running 2nd in a field of 20 losing Creative Force

Like many in this field, he is a group 1 winner and has 14 starts at 6F with 4 wins and 5 seconds

5:00

Wokingham Stakes (Heritage Handicap) Cl2 (3yo+ 0-110) 6f

9 – Tabdeed – Draw 14

Last 2 races in listed races at Windsor and Haydock, ran 3rd in both

Moved good just not getting up to win

Not much on the AW but better last season at turf

He should be at the rear and move forward but there will be a strong pace

Fits well here and a slight drop in class

16 – Gulliver – Draw 6

Signs of racing life in last race, 3rd of 21 at York in class 2 losing by a length

This was his first of the season and best race in awhile

He seems to have a pattern of awful, awful, win at price

He remains me of some middle level claimers who you want to be on that horse because you want good odds

Off the pace and come on late

Taking a big shot here off last

22 – First Folio – Draw 15

Ran 2nd at Windsor in listed race last out, best run since winning in June 2021. He’s been running at the class 2 level with some success

Very suited for good to firm

5:35

Golden Gates Stakes Cl2 (3yo 0-105) 1m2f

11 – Chairman – Draw 10

A winner of 2 in a row going in maiden and class 3 races

He’s won or second in all his races, 2 novices 1 maiden races

At 12F in that maiden race he won by a neck

Dropped to 10F in last and won again

What’s his best distance? We are going to see what he can do at this level

Get weight off moving up to this level

7 – Falling Shadow – Draw 14

Won last out in maiden race but won the race before but was DQ’ed because he tested for an illegal substance

10F maiden win was good start for the season, moving up here but this is William Buick/Charlie Appleby horse and I have to give him a chance off last

10 – Groundbreaker – Draw 3

Ran 4th to Ottoman Fleet last out in listed race at 10F, he was off slow and jockey in the steward room said the horse was restless in the gate.

Won maiden at Doncaster going 10F he went on nicely for the win

Late developing 3 year old because had started racing in November

Comes back to that maiden race form, he will be with a chance

17 – Bushfire – Draw 17 (Reserve)

Won last in novice at Newbury by a head on the heavy going

He hasn’t raced since Oct and all races at 1 mile

Favorite in last but fitness level is a question but gets in very light against more experienced horses

6:10

Queen Alexandra Stakes Cl2 (4yo+) 2m5½f

8 – Nate The Great – Draw 10

Ran 2nd in group3 last out at 16F is a good race but this horse rarely runs a poor race lately.

He generally runs with the leaders sitting behind them

Going over races of 2 miles he has 13 starts 2 wins 4 seconds 2 thirds

Daniel Tudhope returns to the ride and has a great record on this horse of 4 starts 2 wins 1 second 1 third and he is having a terrific Royal meeting

10 – Timour – Draw 14

He hasn’t done much in awhile and only has one win but can be in the money and he’s been running in better class of races mainly listed races in France

He’s place in a group2 last year at ParisLongchamp

There are signs of life and at these odds I will give him a chance

James McDonald rides (he has 2 wins so far) for Andre Fabre

11 – Wordsworth – Draw 12

Started the season with a win at 13.5F at Gowan Park then ran 4th and 3rd in races at Ascot and the Curragh in group3 and listed races

In the Ascot race, he ran 4th to Princess Zoe and lost by ¾

He’s been the favorite in last three races and should be again

Win?
