Sandown Horse Racing Tips and Commentary – Saturday

Race 1 – 1:50

Coral Charge (Group 3) (Registered As The Sprint Stakes) Cl1 (3yo+) 5f

4 – Method – Draw 3

8 starts 2 wins 1 second

Last out in listed race at 6F, went to the lead, and hung right at the end

He hadn’t raced in 333 days

In 2020, he won his first 2 starts and then ran 2nd in group3 after a failed attempt in group1 race

No wins or placing in 2021 and again has had layoffs

It’s almost like he ran “green” in his last race

Longshot for sure but maybe he’s finally figuring it out.

7 – Nymphadora – Draw 8

9 starts 1 win 2 seconds

A winner of listed race only but she’s really run 2 good races this season

2nd at Ascot in handicap and 2nd at Chester in handicap both at 5F

She should stay in contact with the front runner and just needs to finish

Gets weight allowance over her male rivals and being a 3-year-olds

5 – Rassel – Draw 6

14 starts 8 wins 2 second 1 third

Won last at Haydock in listed race and beat Dragon Symbol by 3/4L

Except for his first start of the season, running 5th, he’s won 2 and placed 1

Steps up for this race but in form and should be ready to finish in the top 3 again

Race 2 – 2:25

Coral Challenge (Handicap) Cl2 (3yo+) 1m

3 – Checkandchallenge – Draw 9

3 starts 2 wins

Tried G1 company last out in the Guineas and was not match – toss

Listed win at Newcastle & maiden win

Issue, transferring AW track form to the turf?

Dam has produced 7 runners 5 winners and turf winners at distance

2 – Sinjaari – Draw 7

18 starts 2 wins 7 seconds 2 thirds

Ran ok at Ascot with issues because he ran maybe on the wrong side of the track group before they merged, still ran 5th

Off the layoff, he ran 3rd at Newbury at distance, useful race to say to the owners/trainer to try Ascot

Favorite or joint favorite but better at running 2nd than winning

4 – Chance – Draw 8

19 starts 6 wins 3 seconds 1 third

At this distance, 13 starts 4 wins 3 seconds 1 third

Last race in January at Lingfield (AW) running last after winning 2 in a row

A winner on all types of going from good to firm to heavy to AW

He hasn’t won coming off a layoff, yet

Level appears correct but may need a race but running in the money makes the most sense to me

Race 3 – 3:00

Coral Distaff (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo) 1m

5 – Heredia – Draw 4

4 starts 4 wins

As she’s move up in class levels, she won them all including the last in handicap at Ascot going 8F, today’s distance

Moves up again and listed race so step up again for the win

I always give trainers credit for being patience and she could be a group1 winner in the future

1 – Oscula – Draw 1

13 starts 4 wins 1 second 5 thirds

Winner of last in listed company by 2L with a 2nd in the prior race but at 7F

Winner of group3 race and they got aggressive trying group1 races in France, but she did place in some of those races

In form and should make a good run here at distance

4 – Grande Dame – Draw 5

3 starts 1 win 1 second

Toss last at Ascot, group 1 again a very good field with her stable mate Inspiral who is undefeated

She had an adventuresome trip

This is much better spot to good forward with a chance

Placed in listed race at York and only been running 8F

Race 4 – 3:35

Coral-Eclipse (Group 1) (British Champions Series) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m2f

6 – Vadeni – Draw 4

6 starts 4 wins 1 third

Winner of the French Derby last out by widen 5L and it looked easy

Prior in that race, he won a group3 race

Going shouldn’t be any issue because he’s won of good & soft

After the last race, this was the next target with the final goal on running in the ARC in October.

He gets weight from the older horses which can only help

2 – Bay Bridge – Draw 2

8 starts 5 wins 1 second 1 third

After winning his first start of the season in group3 race, he went off as the favorite in the Royal Ascot race, but State of Rest made all the running, and he couldn’t catch up.

It’s interesting to see his record because as a 2-year-old he did nothing, layoff 140 days and won the next 2 races, then a break again, and won again another break and won again

In form and it should be interesting what tacit is used in the running of the race.

1 – Alenquer – Draw 6

10 starts 5 wins 2 second 1 third

After a short break from running in Dubai, he won at the Curragh a group1 by a neck over the good going.

He runs in top company, mainly group1’s but was a winner on the AW in group3 which served as prep for Dubai

He will be with the front group and with an honest pace should finish strongly

Saint-Cloud Horse Racing Picks and Analysis – Sunday

Race 7

Grand Prix De Saint-Cloud

9 – Alpinista – Draw 7

12 starts 7 wins 2 seconds

A winner of 5 in a row dating back to April 2021 at various tracks with the last 3 races in Germany

All races at the distance today’s race

Step up? She placed in group1 at York in 2020 and hasn’t been out of the money since August 2020

After layoff, she has won 3 times

Gets weight allowance

Tough spot but if ready…

4 – Mare Australis – Draw 2

9 starts 4 wins 2 seconds 1 third

Won last at Chantilly by 2L over Bubble Gift in group2

In his other starts this season, he ran 4th by 2L behind State of Rest in group1 ParisLongchamp and 3rd to Skalleti

Last race was at this distance

5 – Hurricane Lane – Draw 9

9 starts 6 wins 3 thirds

Last run, Broome made all the running at Royal Ascot, and he chased him around the track running 3rd by 4 1/2L

The paddock commentator made the observation that he didn’t look like he was in shape and some extra on him. I picked him to win this last race but got off him hearing those comments

Needed race? It will be interesting to see what he looks like pre-race this time.
