2 – Star Contact – Draw 6
After an average barrier trial, he won his first start after layoff coming from the back of the field
The next race, was not so good, again back of the field and could only manage to get to 9th at the finish
With only 10 starts and 1 win at this distance, he not a standout in the field but this is a very average field
Favorite? Maybe 3-1
4 – Marado – Draw 5
An improved effort last out, sitting back of the field and moving up to 3rd from 9th on the turn, the pace was slow, and he surged at the end
The first race after layoff had a faster pace and he moved up from 9th to 5th
Is there enough here to suggest a winning effort is next?
Well changing to top jockey Zac Purton will help his chances
5 – Perfect Peach – Draw 13
This one looks in form with a 1st and 2nd in the last 2 races but it draws post 13 and that isn’t a good thing
Showed speed in the last and sat mid-pack in the other race
The interesting thing is the last race, he was in the 13 post

Race 7
1 – Healthy Happy – Draw 7
Ran a barrier trial (and won) in September and won and then went out and ran 2nd in group 3 races at this distance
Coming into this race, he ran in a barrier trial (and won)
First up record in very good 5 starts 3 wins 2 placings
Drops in class to handicap level and should be the favorite
4 – Fantastic Treasure – Draw 2
Comes into this race off a barrier trial running 2nd
He’s had success at the lower levels and only tried group company once without finishing in the money
Two races back, he won nicely at the 100-60 rating level by 1/2L
Where does this horse fit? 13 starts 6 wins 2 placings
I will put him in for a second and see what he can do
2 – Cheerful Days – Draw 8
The last 2 races haven’t been good, 14th and 5th so some class relief really made what this horse needs to return to better form
His last place was in May
An interesting item from the last race was that the jockey carried 3 extra pounds in the running of the race
Race 8
7 – Viva Hunter – Draw 9
First, start on the AW, he rang a good 2nd showing speed in the race
He appears to need to race to get into form because he has never won after 3 starts after a layoff
He’s won 3 races from 18 starts on the turf but he’s found a home in the AW
I am thinking after the first try being good, he has speed and will need it in these 2 turn races from the 9 draw
Making the lead? I doubt it but maybe wide in 3rd or 4th makes sense
12 – Yes We Can – Draw 10
He won 2 in a row on the Sha Tin AW but at a lower level
Because of the success, his rating has jumped 8 points
11 starts on the AW with 2 wins 4 placings
The draw isn’t great, especially around 2 turns but his in form and he’s hit the board before
2 – Super Dynamite – Draw 5
The first start-off layoff was his first try on the AW, he ran a strong 2nd with issues in the running of the race
Prior to that run, his best run was in April
If it’s the AW he needs to put in better efforts, go for it
He’s won once from 4 starts second up so I can place him higher that 3rd
Race 9
2 – Bundle of Charm – Draw 4
Showed speed in last and then backed up on the turn and ran 6th
Race before, showed speed out of the gate but couldn’t finish and caught with 50m to go running 5th
Won in June vs lesser horses running on the front end with Zac Purton on board and now switches back to him for this race
Speed and winning jockey will help chances and the draw is good
13 – Enchanting Ibis – Draw 7
Ran a good 2nd last out with a strong finish after some issues at the start
The 5th before was a good prep
He’s only a lower-level winner but off last, he is in the right place for another good effort
11 – Pulsar Strider – Draw 14
This horse hasn’t raced since February in Australia
He did well at lesser tracks with 6 starts 2 wins 2 placings
He’s run 2 barrier trials in HK with a 2nd and 4th
I normally don’t bet first time races in HK but he’s been there awhile and has plenty of time for the adjustment, now lets see how he races because off the last 2 races, he drops a bit in class level
The draw 14 couldn’t be worse for his chances but let’s try at a price shot

9 – Happy Daily – Draw 2
Win last out in the same class level and distance, closer than the last race to the front runners, took the lead, and won gamely
A 2nd in the race before being farther back in the field with cover
His first start off the layoff, he had not clear running to be a factor in the race
In form and the draw helps with tactical speed
1 – Sword Point – Draw 6
First, start in HK with 2 barrier trials running 2nd and 4th
Another horse who’s been in HK for a while, since March
Good overall record in Australia with 8 starts 2 wins 2 placings including at 3rd in a group 3 race
His 2 wins were in the maiden and BM78 races which is comparable to this race
He is picked as the favorite here
12 – Sweet Encounter – Draw 8
2 races 2 wins
Comes into this race off a barrier trial running 3rd
