Sha Tin Horse Racing Tips and Commentary

Sha Tin Tom’s Tips

Race 6

7 – Encountered

2 starts this season, 3rd and 6th

In the last run, the comment line was “one pace”

Won closing race last season

Jockey switched to Zac Purton will only increase this horses chances

An outside draw may hurt his chances

9 – Golden Link

The last run at Happy Valley ran 5th and pushed along

Showed speed in the race

Nothing in the first start of the season but a rough trip – toss

A better record at Sha Tin and should improve with this start

2 – Sight Spirit

I don’t know what to make of this horse and class level

Ran in 90-75 last out at Happy Valley with issues and 9th

Race before ran in 105-80 and finished 4th

Drops here for first start of season and has placed once coming off a layoff

10 starts 3 wins 1 second

I will take a chance with this one breaking from the 5 post

Race 7

3 – Celestial Prince

First, run of the season, and ran a good 3rd considering he was blocked at a couple of points in the race

He’s won once from 3 starts second up after layoff

In Hong Kong, he has 17 starts 4 wins 3 thirds

At this distance, 5 starts 3 wins

With some form and right distance, I think he’s the winner

1 – Money Catcher

Ran second last out at 1600m for the first start of the season

Had the rail and used to his advantage, draw 4 today

At this distance, 5 starts 2 seconds 2 thirds

Ran second in last 4 races

Adds distance and should be around at the end

2 – Bourbonaire

Not much in first start of the season running 11th after slowing speed in the running of the race, the comment “off the bridle” is interesting

He’s generally at front runner, now let’s see he can hold it together for a placing

Race 8

1 – Wellington

Hasn’t raced since April but won 3 in a row in group 1 or 2 races

He’s 2 for 3 coming off a layoff

Has a record of 12 starts 8 wins at this distance

Even with the layoff, he’s the one to beat for me

11 – Duke Wai

2 races this season, 2 thirds in class 1 and group 3 company

Showed speed in the last race but with bumping and not fully able to get in the race

The start before was different, sat 10th and move very quickly at the end but this is how he normally runs, one big move

He’s run some fast times before and will be picking on them at the end

9 – Cordyceps Six

Last 5 races, he won 3 and ran second twice

Moving up from 80-60, 100-80, 105-80 class then 2 races in group 3 handicap

The break from May to the last start just missing was impressive

The question is can he continue to step up again, I think he can

Race 9

5 – Midori Beauty

The last 2 races ran second in both but 2 different racing styles, on the lead and coming far back to catch them but not win

The first race was nothing special, just a first race running last for post 12

My concern in post 14 but if ready again, should make a good account of himself again

12 – Golden Artie

I normally don’t take first-time starts in Hong Kong but this horse is an exception

Coming from Australia, he ran 4 times with 1 win in a handicap and 1 second in his first start

The other races were a 4th in handicap and 7th in a listed race

All these races were at Rosehill

The start in the listed race, even though it was a 7th was a good speedy effort just may be enough to win here

4 – Happy Sharing

He won at this level in last start and has 2 wins overall

He drew clear over my top choice last out

Shows speed in every race

There is no reason for me to think that he won’t do well again

Favorite

Race 10

13 – Galaxy Witness

Toss first start since June, ran a nothing race and needed it

Before the break, he ran 3 once and won 3 in a row

6 races 4 wins

Level suits and will return to the winner’s circle today

1 – The Golden Scenery

2 starts this season running 6th and 3rd.

He missed by a neck last out from last place to just missed

He’s a dead closer and there is enough speed in the race to set up this horse

3 – Packing Victory

Won last out by a head running on the pace with some issues

3rd in his first start brushing another horse in the running but overall, a good effort

At the same level, we should see continued good form in this race
