22 to 1 Tom’s Lingfield Tips and InsightsÂ
RACE 3
William Hill Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap (GBBPlus Race) Cl2 (4yo+ 0-105) 1m3½f
3 – Vice President
It took three races to break the maiden, but he ran in the money in his first two races. Last out at Newbury, he tried a distance of ground for his first season start and ran a race. He needed a start. A shorter distance today should help, and Ryan Moore’s riding is also positive.
2 – Power Of Destiny
She had a start in January on the all-weather and finished third at ten furlongs. After a break, she raced poorly at this level at Newcastle on the all-weather. One of her two wins was at this distance, and in this short field, she has a chance.
4 – Candyman Stan
Won his last start at Brighton, going twelve furlongs in his first season start by five lengths. Moves up in class from a Class Four race. Should be on the lead and may take them all the way.

RACE 4
William Hill Lingfield Derby Trial Stakes (Listed Race) (Colts & Geldings) Cl1 (3yo) 1m3½f
7 – Stay True
One race won decisively while initially staying with the leaders, then it briefly faded but rallied to win by more than two lengths. This race was run at ten furlongs at Leopardstown. I don’t like the favorite, which is also an Aiden O’Brien horse; I think this one has more upside, but what did he beat? His odds indicate to me I am not the only one who thinks he has a good chance in this race.
1 – Nightime Dancer
One started as a 2-year-old and ran on for third in a race that the horse split into two groups; he was with the winner. He returned to the races in April with a win on the all-weather at Southwell. It was not a smooth trip; I was running in the rear and was bumped, but I still won by over one length. This race was at twelve furlongs, so maybe he wants a nice run of ground to win again.
3 – Prince Of The Seas
His first start of the season was at Epsom in a listed race over ten furlongs. The best way to describe the race is that he ran “green.” He was on the bridle early, shifted slightly left, and didn’t finish as strongly as he could have. I will chalk it up to needing a start. He ran well in his two starts as a 2-year-old, with a win in a maiden race and a second over the all-weather at Kempton.

RACE 5
William Hill Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (3yo+) 7f
3 – Jabaara
She has had two starts this season, one of which was on the all-weather in a seven-furlong listed race, where she finished fourth. They believed her prep race was good enough to send her to Keeneland and try grade one company going eight and a half furlongs. She performed well until seven furlongs, then faded to finish sixth. She is better suited for seven furlongs, having won two of five races.
6 – Cathedral
The lone three-year-old in the race has two starts and a win and a second in a group three at today’s distance. She got in with a lightweight and opened at 2-1 odds.
Â
4 – Spiritual
Finished last season with a third at Newmarket going one mile in a listed race. She won first up once, going one mile in a listed race at Sandown. Her three races at this distance were a win at Leicester in her first maiden start and two group races, running fourth and eighth. Her odds have dipped from 6-1 to 4-1, so she’s on my ticket to run third.

RACE 6
William Hill Lingfield Handicap Cl4 (3yo 0-80) 7f
9 – Brave Byreflection
He has run twice, placing in a maiden race at Ripon and then winning a novice race on the all-weather at Kempton. Both races were six furlongs. He will be forwardly placed and should fare well against this bunch of horses at this level.
5 – Cradle Of Love
He started his racing career with reasonable efforts as a two-year-old and ran at Royal Ascot and a Group Three race. Showed little in those races. Then they tried the all-weather with much success. Still a maiden but ran an ok effort last time at Southwell at seven furlongs. This was the first race for his new trainer. He just lost third at the end. Same distance today, and he has a chance if he shows the promise earlier in his career.
3 – Prince of India
He has the best form in the race, winning seven furlongs on the all-weather and, at the second last time, out at the same distance. Now he switches to the turf at this same distance and should perform well at on the good to firm going.

RACE 7
William Hill More Top Prices Handicap Cl5 (4yo+ 0-70) 5f
9 – Angie Land
This versatile horse has sixty starts, seven wins, eleven seconds, and eight thirds on both turf and all-weather. She ran fourth last time out and was run second until the final furlong and didn’t finish. I am going on a better race than before, switching to the turf will make the difference today.
10 – So Smart
He’s raced twice this season at Bath and ran fifth and sixth in class four races at this distance. He is good at running second or third and has done this twenty times, with only three wins. I give him a chance in this field.
5 – Catch Cunningham
He had an awful trip last time out; he was blocked and never really got going. However, He ran sixth of fourteen at Musselburgh. The previous two races were at the class four level. I’m dropping back today, and the good to firm going helps. He needs a better trip, and an outside post may assist.

2 – POWER OF DESTINY – expecting better in round 2 – both wins
3 – VICE PRESIDENT – another that should be better in 2nd up
4 – CANDYMAN STAN – won last by 5 – 2nd up – but maybe more AW than Grass
Â
Race 4: William Hill Lingfield Derby Trial Stakes – 10:00 am ET
4 – PUPPET MASTER – have to think Ryan Moore had his choice of here of the co-Fav – #7
2 – OUR’ENERY – taking a shot here – last race was better than the finish – 3 seconds faster
7 – STAY TRUE – won debut with ease and most upside in 2nd career start
1 – NIGHTIME DANCER – going to be rolling late in a field of mostly P types
Â
Race 5: William Hill Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes – 10:35 am ET
6 – CATHEDRAL – based on AW performance – I think he’ll take to the firm footing
1 – GREAT GENERATION – won lone Lingfield race – it was at the distance – 1st up OK
3 – JABAARA – doesn’t win often – probably been in against tougher
Â
Race 6: William Hill Lingfield Handicap – 11:10 am ET
2 – LEADENHALL STREET – crazy pick – lone turf race sucked – but could get a great trip – closer versus a field that wants to go forward
3 – PRINCE OF INDIA – third up for the first time – boom or bust coming
9 – BRAVE BYRELFTION – have to consider because comment say she showed strong kick in lone grass go – another furlong today could help
5 – CRADLE OF LOVE – yet to win – best races were 2nd up – spent a lot of $$ on her relative to the rest – definitely been in against better
Â
Race 7: William Hill More Top Prices Handicap – 11:45 am ET
1 – BANG ON THE BELL – makes the most sense in my view – speed of the speed?
3 – PROTEST RALLY – nearly all of her recent 5f turf runs would do – might get the best trip
5 – CATCH CUNNINGHAM – best of the closers IMO – and could catch a hot pace here
8 – MERRIMACK – 3rd up was best in cycle last time – why not this time too?
