Newmarket Racing – The Qipco Guineas Festival – Day 2

The Qipco Guineas Festival is all about world class flat racing, the Rowley Mile hosts three days of the highest quality racing and we head into day 2 this Saturday.

We have the UK’s first flat classic of the season today, the Qipco 2000 Guineas, over the distance of one mile on The Rowley Mile course. This will be the 5th race of the day, but we also have some fantastic racing before and after this showpiece race. We at Tips On Fire are one of the UK’s premium Ratings compilers and we have teamed up with GTS to give you our top 4 ratings in each race. We do this for all tracks, each and every day in the U.K.

We start at GMT 1.15 with the 6f Kilvington Stakes
1.50 The 6f Betfair Heritage Handicap
2.25 The 9f Suffolk Stakes
3.00 The 5f Betfair Palace House Stakes
3.40 The 2000 Guineas
4.15 The 12f Betfair Open Handicap
4.50 The 8f Betfair Exchange Newmarket Stakes
And closing day 2 with The Betfair Weighed in Podcast Stakes over 6f.

In summary there are 8 races for the day, with 91 runners competing for £529227.

1.15 Kilvington Stakes 6f (Fillies and Mares)

Tips On Fire top rated for the opener is Flotus (7) for trainer Simon Crisford and James Doyle on the bottom weighted fillie. She will probably be off at a short price having finished her last two races first in a Listed race at Ripon and second here in a Class 1 Group 1 race back in September.

We have next the long travelling Gale Force Maya (1) the 6yohas been great form and has for figures of 1/1/2/1 in his last four races. With the last three being here at the Newmarket Rowley, he’s got to go close at a better price.

Third and fourth rated are Umm Kulthum (6) and Tenaya Canyon (5), both have previously won at 6f and these 4yo fillies should prove competitive. The race only pays the top 2 finishers and the top two seem good for that, so for an outsider perhaps look at Tenaya Canyon (5) who will be around the 12/1 mark.

1.50 The 6f Betfair Heritage Handicap

A big field for this with 21 runners and this Class 2 over 6 furlongs will be hard to call, but Tips On Fire have to start with course and distance winner Jumby (3) the partnership with William Buick has seen finishes of third and first in this colts last two races, both at this track. Form here at the Rowley course reads as 3/1/1/3. Our second rated in Blackrod (12) who’s been very consistent with form of 2/1/1/3 in his last 4 races, yet to race here on the Rowley course.

For the third and fourth in our ratings we have last time out winners Bickerstaffe (10) and If You Dare (17) both distance winners and should be at around the 14/1-18/1 mark for this. Most book makers in the U.K. will have enhanced places available for each way betting purposes and 6 places will be paid out for this race.

2.25 The 9f Suffolk Stakes

Tips On Fire top rated in this race is the Andrew Balding trained Notre Belle Bete (4) his partnership with David Probert has seen two wins in their last three races together.

Forest Falcon (6) is a distance winner and has also a couple of wins in the past three runs. We have Lucander (3) and Turntable (8) fighting it out for the final third placing in this race, the latter a winner here in September and with Hollie Doyle taking the ride there’s some decent value at 8 or 9/1.

3.00 The 5f Betfair Palace House Stakes

This sprint has a few last time out winners, and these make up Tips On Fire top four rated in this race. Tis Marvellous (9)tops the list and Adam Kirby retains the ride and forms reads 1/1/3/1 in this geldings past four 5f races. Came From The Dark (4) has similar form 3/1/2/1 and Hollie Doyle is back after their neck loss second here over course and distance back in May 2021.

Possibly the best outsider will be Zarzyni (12) who’s been very competitive in their last six races over 5 and 6f 1/2/2/2/2/1, could get around the 10/1 mark for this 5yo gelding. Also, we have Twilight Calls (10) who won here over course and distance for the same connections last time out as a short priced favourite, winning by a length in a Class 3.

3.40 The 2000 Guineas

This 15 runner classic has a lot of classy horses as you would expect. Many having yet to have tasted defeat and Tips On Fire have to go for the local horse and 5 times unbeaten Native Trail (10) all wins have been cosy and this will be a short priced favourite in this today. For a bit better value we have the 3 times unbeaten Luxembourg (9) for the prolific AP OBrien and Ryan Moore combination.

For much better value we have Perfect Power (11) who has 4 wins from 5 on the turf, probably about 10/1 and Point Lonsdale (12) and again same form lines 4 wins from 5 on the turf, with the master Frankie Dettori taking the ride instead of the usual Ryan Moore for AP OBrien and at around 14/1 would be of interest at decent odds. Most book makers will be offering four places in this classic.

4.15 The 12f Betfair Open Handicap

Tips On Fire have the Joe Fanning ride and Mark Johnston trained State Of Bliss (4) as the top in this, this distance winner has 100% winning record on good ground and that’s a long way ahead of the next in this, Matchless (5) who has won his last two and this son of Galileo will be competitive in this.

For the places we have Contact (7) and perhaps a odd choice on recent form but Tritonic (1), this race will pay 3 places.

4.50 The 8f Betfair Exchange Newmarket Stakes

The classy Spirit Catcher (3) is the Tips On Fire top rated for this race and has form figures of 1/2/1 in their first 3 races. Next up is Private Signal (2) this Charlie Appleby trained 3yo has good form on good, good/firm. This small field (6) will only pay the top 2, but maybe these can have a say, King Of Time (4) yet to be defeated in two races and will be short priced or Razzle Dazzle (1) the Richard Hannon trained 3yo for Ryan Moore to ride for Sheik Al Maktoum at a decent price.

Looking at the last race of the day…

5.25 The Betfair Weighed in Podcast Stakes over 6f.

Closing today Tips On Fire have Love Me Likearock (8)another William Buick ride this time for Charles Hills has form at Newmarket and could be the answer at around 5/1. Next up is the last time winner at Newmarket Anadora (7) and will be a similar price at around 5/1 for Kevin Stotts ride. This 13 race for only 3 year olds will offer 4 or 5 places at some book makers and we look at Mama Can (1) and Annaf (2), both around the 12/1mark and they can both be great value Adam Kirby and Theodore Ladd taking the rides respectively.

We at Tips On Fire have loved doing this write up for you today and you can see all of our track picks online, along with many other tipping services that we offer to suit your betting needs, all that’s left to say is good luck to you.
