PARX Racing
Nine races on a fast Parx track, and more than half the card is devoted to horses still searching for that first trip to the winner’s circle.
Five of nine races are maidens.
That means fewer established form lines, lightly raced horses with room to improve, first-time starters and plenty of questions for the betting public to answer.
This is exactly where Smart Sheets can help make the ambiguous clearer.
Terry and Rich will dig into: First Timer scores, breeding and workout signals PAR and second-race Parability Improvement patterns and upside SIM Odds versus the Morning Line SIM Speed and Total Pace C-Zone and projected race shape Class moves and droppers Potential overlays the public may overlook Maiden races aren’t about pretending we know what these horses will become.
They’re about finding the clues that give us a better idea than the crowd. And with Terry returning, we’ll have two sets of eyes attacking all nine races.
Five maiden puzzles.
Nine races. Fast track.
Terry’s back.

Terry puts #5 Unionville on top, while Rich prefers #8 Anita Glassofwine.
Anita Glassofwine gets considerable support from both approaches. Terry points to the top last-race speed rating, fastest dirt speed in the field and a trainer winning 33% of maiden claimers. Rich makes her his top choice with TLRSP# +6, YES status and the most upside.
Unionville is Rich’s third choice but owns what he identifies as the biggest class drop, and Rich believes she could also be involved in the early pace.
#4 Cocoa Nimbus is another horse both Terry and Rich include. Rich labels Cocoa Nimbus the other YES horse and gives her the strongest relative C-Zone.
The biggest difference is #6 Lady Amelie, who Rich moves into second because of the +7 Late Speed edge and class drop.

Terry vs. Rich
This race produces one of the more interesting Terry-Rich disagreements.
Terry goes with #2 Irish Mamba, while Rich elevates Terry’s Longshot #1 Cahvari all the way to the top.
Cahvari has several factors moving in the right direction. Terry notes the highest last-race speed rating, favorable rail and class drop. Rich adds three consecutive Speed Figure increases and TLRSP# +5.
That makes Terry’s Longshot a legitimate win candidate rather than merely an underneath horse.
#3 Buff Gary is another strong shared contender. Terry has him second, and Rich also ranks him second as a YES horse who drops and should be forward.
Terry’s top choice Irish Mamba lands third for Rich, who still recognizes the horse as the biggest class dropper.
The value horse beyond those three could be #7 Elusive Reward, one of Terry’s alternates but Rich’s fourth choice and a YES horse with the most upside.
Race 3
7 Furlongs – Early Inside Speed
Terry’s Picks
1 – Smallchangegeep: Won 2 races in a row going for hat trick; Can lead or come from off the pace; Highest last race speed rating; Rail post is winning at 24% clip; Has a high % winning jockey.
3 – Wicked Melody: Ran 2nd vs tougher in last race; Drops in class today; Best Dirt Speed is fastest among today’s starters; Strong trainer stats.

6 – KING DEIVYS – strongest C ZONE – better EP – 4 SP# increases
1 – SMALLCHANGEGEEP – 3 SP increases and Parx 3/2-0-1
2 – FIRST TRUMPET – Maybe horse and track dropper
Terry vs. Rich
Terry puts the two-race winner #1 Smallchangegeep on top as the horse tries for a hat trick.
There is plenty to like: tactical versatility, the highest last-race speed rating, a productive rail and strong jockey numbers.
Rich, however, makes #3 Wicked Melody his top choice.
Terry already ranks Wicked Melody second after a runner-up finish against tougher company, a class drop and the fastest Best Dirt Speed in the field. Rich adds a +6 SIM Speed advantage and the biggest in-race edge of +9 Late Speed.
The horse who becomes especially interesting when comparing both sets of picks is #6 King Deivys.
Terry makes King Deivys his Longshot.
Rich ranks him second overall, pointing to the strongest C-Zone, better Early Pace and four consecutive Speed Figure increases.
That makes King Deivys one of the better potential value horses in the first half of the card.
Race 4 – Female

Terry’s Picks

2 – BENEVOLENT – only 2nd start – not the biggest fan of Penn shippers – +9 LS
3 – CATCH ME A CATCH – the other maybe horse with the 6
Rich’s Suggested Wager
$0.50 Pick 4: 1,2,6/1,4/3,6/2,3,6,8
Terry vs. Rich
Terry and Rich agree completely on the four main horses but arrange them differently.
Terry puts #6 Slash Alley on top after four consecutive in-the-money finishes, including a second-place finish last time.
Rich also sees Slash Alley as a major contender, ranking her second with TLRSP# +4, early pace and an even-money SIM Favorite designation.
Rich instead gives the top spot to #1 Thisgirlsgotchill.
Terry has her third, but the Smart Sheets point to a horse who should be part of the early pace while owning Top Total Pace and a strong jockey/trainer combination.
#2 Benevolent remains intriguing because this is only the second career start. Terry puts her second after finishing second in the debut. Rich ranks her third and notes a +9 Late Speed advantage, while also expressing some caution about the Penn-to-Parx move.
Terry’s Longshot #3 Catch Me a Catch also makes Rich’s top four, giving us another race where the Terry and Rich contender lists line up extremely well.
Strongest Early Terry-Rich Agreements
Through the first four races, several horses stand out because both handicapping approaches point in the same direction.
Race 1 – #8 Anita Glassofwine
Terry’s second choice and Rich’s top selection. Top last-race speed, fastest dirt speed, TLRSP# +6, YES horse and most upside.
Race 2 – #1 Cahvari
Terry’s Longshot becomes Rich’s top pick. Three consecutive Speed Figure increases, TLRSP# +5, highest last-race speed rating, rail advantage and a class drop.
Race 3 – #3 Wicked Melody
Terry’s second selection and Rich’s top pick. Drops from tougher company, fastest Best Dirt Speed, +6 SIM Speed and +9 Late Speed.
Race 3 – #6 King Deivys
Terry’s Longshot and Rich’s second choice. Strongest C-Zone, improved Early Pace and four consecutive Speed Figure increases.
Race 4 – #6 Slash Alley
Terry’s top pick and Rich’s second choice. Four straight in-the-money finishes, TLRSP# +4 and even-money SIM Favorite.
The most interesting price horses early may be #1 Cahvari in Race 2 and #6 King Deivys in Race 3, because Terry labels both as Longshots while Rich moves each into his top two.
Race 5
6 Furlongs – Early Inside Speed
Terry’s Picks
4 – Spartacus: Drops in class today; Can improve at the shorter distance; Strong trainer and jockey stats.
3 – Wholelotoftrouble: Best man the last 3 races in a row, expects to get married today; Has a high % winning trainer.
2 – Highway Patrol: Finished 3rd vs similar in last race; Best Dirt Speed is fastest among today’s starters; Has a high % winning jockey.
Longshot:
1 – Take Courage: First time starter whose Dam has 1 winner from 1 starter; Good 4F workout (Sep-04); Strong trainer and jockey stats.
Alternate:
5 – Lasting Quality
Rich’s Picks
4 – SPARTACUS – only class and track dropper – was TC nominated – Paco
1 – TAKE COURAGE – 3.0 firster with Back and Bullet and Go works – tr 0/16 with 1sters
2 – HIGHWAY PATROL – only YES = must have – 3rd up
3 – WHOLELOTOFTROUBLE – on the PACE with standout C ZONE
Terry vs. Rich
Terry and Rich both land on #4 Spartacus as the top choice.
Terry likes the class drop, shorter distance and strong trainer-jockey combination.
Rich reinforces that opinion by pointing out that Spartacus is the only class and track dropper and was also TC nominated, with Paco aboard.
The most interesting upside horse may be Terry’s Longshot, #1 Take Courage.
This is a first-time starter, and Terry points to the dam having already produced one winner from one starter, a good 4-furlong work on September 4, and strong trainer-jockey statistics.
Rich ranks Take Courage second and gives the firster a 3.0 First Timer score, along with Back, Bullet and Go workout signals. The warning is the trainer’s 0-for-16 record with first-time starters.
#2 Highway Patrol may be the safest inclusion underneath. Terry ranks him third, and Rich identifies him as the only YES horse — must have — in his third start.
Race 6
1 Mile 70 Yards – Early Speed – Mostly Fair – 2/3 Discount
Terry’s Picks
3 – We Ready: Finished in the money in 8 out of the last 10 races, winning 3 races; Has a high % winning trainer and jockey.

1 – NIXON JOY – tough call over the 2 – YES vs NO and avg race at the top of 2’s range
Terry vs. Rich
This is the race Terry is willing to make his strongest statement of the day.
Terry’s Best Bet – #3 We Ready
We Ready has finished in the money in eight of the last ten races, winning three, and Terry also gets a strong trainer-jockey combination.
Rich doesn’t put We Ready on top, but the Smart Sheets still provide significant support.
Rich ranks We Ready second and gives him:
Top C-Zone
Most upside
That is an important endorsement for Terry’s Best Bet.
Rich prefers #6 Transcendental, who should be forward early with a +9 Early Pace advantage and a solid C-Zone.
Terry also respects Transcendental, ranking the horse second. The beaten-favorite angle is another plus, with the trainer winning 32% with beaten favorites.
This is therefore not a case where Terry and Rich disagree on which horses belong. They agree on the two main contenders and simply reverse the order.
Race 6 Key Horses
Terry: #3 We Ready
Rich: #6 Transcendental
Best consensus pair: 3 and 6
Value consideration: #1 Nixon Joy
Terry’s betting strategy shows exactly how strongly he feels about We Ready, with a win wager, exactas, a Pick 4 single and a Double built around #3.
Race 7 – Female
6 Furlongs – Early Inside Speed
Terry’s Picks
8 – Kool Karoline: Drops in class today; Has a high % winning trainer who wins 28% of the races with horses in the 2nd career race; Has a high % winning jockey.
2 – Haunting Echoes: In the money 83% at PARX and 67% at the distance; fastest Dirt Speed; bullet 4F workout (Aug-25); strong trainer/jockey stats.
6 – Ancient: Ran 2nd vs similar in last race; Highest last race speed rating.
Longshot:
3 – Yo Philly: Finished 3rd in last race; Early speed running style helps chances so the shorter distance is a plus; Has a high % winning trainer and jockey.
Alternate:
4 – Lucky Lu Lu
Terry’s Suggested Wagers
$10.00 Win: #8 Kool Karoline
$5.00 Exacta Box: 2/8
Total Cost: $20.00
$2.00 Double: 2,8/1,3 – Cost $8.00
Rich’s Picks
2 – HAUNTING ECHOES – only YES = must have – SIM SP# +6 and most upside
8 – KOOL KAROLINE – 2nd race PARABILITY – Paco on track dropper
6 – ANCIENT – just missed at this level last out – better 5 ways and beat many below
3 – YO PHILLY – maybe horse – could be on the lead as Top TOTAL PACE
Terry vs. Rich
Terry and Rich agree almost completely on the contenders in Race 7.
Terry puts #8 Kool Karoline on top, while Rich ranks her second.
The case for Kool Karoline is built around the class drop, strong trainer statistic in the horse’s second career start and the Smart Sheets second-race Parability angle.
Rich instead puts #2 Haunting Echoes on top.
This is a particularly strong Smart Sheets horse:
Only YES horse
Must have
SIM Speed +6
Most upside
Terry already has Haunting Echoes second and adds the horse’s excellent Parx record, strong distance record, fastest Dirt Speed and bullet workout.
This is another race where the Terry-Rich disagreement is more about order than contenders.
#6 Ancient is third for both. Terry points to the highest last-race speed rating, while Rich notes that Ancient just missed at this level, is better five ways, and has already defeated several horses below.
Terry’s Longshot #3 Yo Philly is also Rich’s fourth choice. The Smart Sheets show a possible pace advantage with Top Total Pace, giving the horse some potential to hang around longer than the public may expect.
Race 7 Main Pair
#2 Haunting Echoes
#8 Kool Karoline
Both Terry and Rich clearly believe those are the two horses to beat.
Terry’s Best Bet of the Day
Race 6 – #3 We Ready
Terry’s strongest opinion on Maiden Madness Monday comes in one of the non-maiden events.
#3 We Ready has finished in the money in eight of the last ten starts and has won three of those races.
The consistency is already there, and the Smart Sheets add two meaningful advantages:
Top C-Zone
Most upside
Rich ranks We Ready second behind Transcendental, but both handicappers clearly agree that 3 and 6 are the horses to beat.
Terry is backing that opinion aggressively:
$20 Win on #3 We Ready
$5 Exacta Box 3/6
$5 Exacta 3/1,2,6
Single #3 in the Pick 4
Key #3 in the Double
When Terry is willing to build that many wagers around one horse, the opinion is clear.
Race 6 – #3 We Ready is Terry’s Best Bet of the Day at Parx Racing.

6 – RIPPED – 2nd up – should be forward as SIM FAV and Top PAR+
2 – LASSO – has the most late run – strong work between starts
Terry vs. Rich
Terry puts #3 Duration on top, while Rich prefers #1 Souper Tuscan.
Duration brings the stronger consistency profile, having finished in the money in nine of the last ten starts with three wins. Rich still gives Duration significant support, ranking the horse second and identifying the most upside.
Rich’s top choice #1 Souper Tuscan also gets plenty of respect from Terry, who ranks him second. The rail is winning at 20%, the horse drops in class, and Rich expects him to be the pacesetter with Top Total Pace.
That makes 1 and 3 the clear main pair.
#6 Ripped becomes an interesting alternative from the Smart Sheets side. Rich has him third as the SIM Favorite with Top PAR+, while Terry uses him as an alternate.
Terry’s Longshot #2 Lasso also makes Rich’s top four. Rich sees the most late run, while Terry points to the recent third-place finish and bullet five-furlong workout.

Rich’s Suggested Wager
$2 Exacta Key Box: 2/1,5,7,8
Terry vs. Rich
The finale gives us a major difference in opinion at the top.
Terry prefers #7 Relevate, while Rich puts Terry’s alternate #2 Pittore d’Oro on top.
Rich’s case for Pittore d’Oro is strong on the Smart Sheets:
Only YES horse
Most upside
TLRSP +9
Standout C-Zone
The question is whether that big recent move can be repeated or whether regression follows.
Terry’s top choice #7 Relevate may be the more dependable form horse. Relevate comes off a second-place finish against similar company and returns to a route, while Rich identifies Top SIM Speed and Top Total Pace along with four quality starts in a row.
That gives Relevate support from both Terry’s traditional handicapping and Rich’s numbers.
#5 Cara’s Dreamweaver is also a strong shared contender. Terry ranks the horse second, and Rich has the horse third after racing against better and now making the second start for Ness.
#8 Authentic Angel rounds out the shared group, with the class drop and first Parx start making the horse another viable inclusion.
Race 9 Main Horses
#7 Relevate – Terry’s top choice and Rich’s #2
#2 Pittore d’Oro – Rich’s top Smart Sheets horse
#5 Cara’s Dreamweaver – shared contender
#8 Authentic Angel – class-drop contender
Terry’s Best Bet of the Day
Race 6 – #3 We Ready
Terry’s Best Bet remains #3 We Ready in Race 6.
The horse has finished in the money in eight of the last ten starts, winning three, and Rich’s Smart Sheets add:
Top C-Zone
Most upside
Rich ranks We Ready second behind Transcendental, but both handicappers agree that #3 We Ready and #6 Transcendental are the two key horses in the race.
Terry backs the opinion with a $20 win wager, exactas, a Pick 4 single and a Double.
Race 6 – #3 We Ready is Terry’s Best Bet of the Day at Parx Racing.
