RACE 6 – Catanach’s Jewellers Handicap – 11:10 pm ET

Tom’s Picks

6 – Hawer Hall
She ran second last time out while running second most of the race at 1000m. This was a first-up effort at Kembla Grange. She has raced only eight times, with three wins and three placings.
4 – Dollar Magic
She’s only won three races from sixteen tries at this distance, but ran in the money eleven times. She’s been in the money six of seven times, running first up. She’s being dropped back to a distance where, at this level, she has a chance.
7 – Crepe Myrtle
She’s only run on a good surface but has won two of three at this distance and been in the money five out of six races. She is a two-in-a-row winner and moves up in class. Godolphin owned.

Rich’s Ranks

7- CREPE MYRTLE – debut was only off run – since – he is a length – from 5 wins in a row
4 – DOLLAR MAGIC – loves 2nd at the track 8/0-6-1 – so he goes 2nd
6 – HAWKER HALL – is live and should be better in the 2nd up
3 – PLUNDERING – got to have him – Men at Work – sang – where the women glow and the men plunder – plus he’s run his best on softer footing

RACE 7 – Chandon Handicap – 11:45 pm ET

Tom’s Picks

13 – Bella Corazon
She ran a good first-up race last time at 1200m, running third. She won at this distance, second-up. She moves up a bit in class, but off the last race and with a much better draw today, she will win.
3 – Flying Thinker
She was dead last last time out after sitting midpack. She adds distance today and has won second-up and twice at this distance. She needed the last race and will do better today.
7 – Wings of Desire
She won first asking last time and 1200m. She then ran second in a barrier trial. She moves up in class and will sit behind the pace. After her previous races in March and before, she appears to come back strongly and she should continue to improved.

Rich’s Ranks

13 – BELLA CORAZON – strong 1st effort in last – resume says better today
12 – KILKENNY – same story as the 13 – plus she was much faster last out
4 – SUPER NUI – is another that sparkled in her last, running about 2 second quicker
9 – HURRY MISS – theme of the race – doesn’t look like it on paper – but plenty internal improvement

RACE 8 – Tab Handicap – 12:20 am ET

Tom’s Picks

2 – Whinchat
He returns to the races after three ugly results at this level and in listed races. He won one barrier trial and finished second in the other. He is two for four at this distance and has always been in the money in the first start of the season. If he is ready, he will be tough in here.
6 – Astero
Showed pace in his last race, then backed up to run tenth. After winning a Gold Coast, he tried the listed and benchmark 94 level without success. Why pick? He will be forwardly placed; let’s give him a shot against this field. He’s won or placed on all types of footing.
9 – Mickey’s Medal
He has won three out of five races on this race course. He ran a good second last time out at Canberra. He has been better at racing in the money versus winning at this distance. Off the previous race, he appears to be moving in the right direction, but not a winning effort here.

Rich’s Ranks

11 – GRID GIRL – ride them while they are hot – won 2 in a row
9 – MICKEY’S METAL – winner 3/5 at the track and room for 4/6 in 2nd up
15 – PIPPIE BEACH – fires first up and at the track 5/2-1-1
2 – WHINCHAT – when the comments say – been in the money every first up run, respect – you got to respect that

RACE 9 – Captivant @ Kia Ora Handicap – 1:00 am ET

Tom’s Picks

1 – Barazin
He drops back to this level after racing at higher levels. He is very good at this distance with two wins and two placings from four starts. He ran an even race last time, but based on his past efforts, 2000m appears to be his distance.
9 – Format
He ran third at the benchmark 72 level last time, going 1900m. I think it wasn’t far enough. He won the 2000m, 2110m, and 2400m races on good-to-soft ground. He has a win at the lower level and was the beaten favorite last time. He should rebound with a reasonable effort today on the pace near the frontrunners.
10 – United Kingdom
He ran fifth last time over 2000m and third in the race before at the same distance. He’s only placed once at this distance with three attempts. He may want a soundtrack, but based on what’s in the field, I think he can get a placing here.

Rich’s Ranks

9 – FORMAT – last race probably works but CV says he will be better than that in 2nd up
5 – KING PEDRO – you got to vote for Pedro – 2nd pop culture reference of the day – absolutely demolished the comp in last – big races tend to be followed by another
2 – BELLE DETELLE – much better effort in last
10 – UNITED KINGDOM – last race a touch better than the finish according to the final time – 3rd up offer hopes for even more

RACE 10 – The Inglis Influence Handicap – 1:40 am ET

Tom’s Picks

3 – Step Aside
He ran in two barrier trials, running tenth and then third over this race track. He’s won at this level in the past and has two wins at Rosehill plus three wins at this distance. He has also won 50% of the time first up. If he is ready, I am betting him to win.
4 – Shihab
He ran fourth in his last two races, returning from a layoff. Both races were at higher levels but with lesser race tracks. He has won at this level in the past and has two wins and three placings from nine runs at this distance. He will be flying at the end.
10 – Bartolf
He ran fourth at the level last time out and came on a bit at the end. This comes off a winning effort at Warwick Farms at the benchmark 72 level. He has been racing throughout and is in good form right now to get a piece of this purse.

Rich’s Ranks

2 – TUNED – one for one at the distance and track with a solid time
13- APPLAUD – came off the sidelines to win and his PPs say he wins in bunches
14 – SILVANITO – track 5/0-4-0 – so, you got to put him 3rd off a winning effort in last
11 – SOUNDS UNUSUAL – runs well first up – ITM 6/7 lifetime
