Horse Racing Picks and Analysis

Tom is back after a spring training trip. Unfortunately, he could not make the Cubs or Brewers’ rosters with his 48-mph knuckleball. So, it’s back to horse racing picks at Rosehill in Australia.

Rosehill Racecourse Tips (Free Rosehill Past Performances) Australia A

Rosehill Racecourse

Race 5 – MAURICE McCARTEN STAKES

Race 6 – PHAR LAP STAKES

Race 7 – SKY HIGH STAKES

Race 8 – COOLMORE CLASSIC

Race 9 – AJAX STAKES

22 to to 1 Tom’s Tips

Race 5

5 – Clemenceau – Draw 9

Comes into this race of 2 trials and runs ok overall.

This is the highest level this horse has run at but has a record of 9 starts five wins and 4 placings.

Of the five wins, four were at this distance.

The question is a layoff.

3 – Coal Crusher – Draw 6

Won his trial coming into this race and he has won twice from four starts first up.

Blinkers were removed in the last race and ran second vs. open company.

His only try in group races was at a longer distance.

He has tried this distance once before and in the money.

He has done well first up with 4 starts, 2 wins 1 placing.

He likes to race close to the lead.

2 – Athelric – Draw 5

Ran two trials coming to this race with one win.

He won his last race at 1000m vs open company.

He has placed in one group race in 6 tries.

He doesn’t win first out after layoff but has placed twice.

Win? Doubt it but should make a good account of himself vs. this bunch.

Race 6

7 – Zougotcha – Draw 4

After a layoff, she ran 4th in group 1 race at Randwick.

She is a group 1 winner and has two group 2 races.

She’s never tried this distance but has won at 1200m, 1400m, and 1600m.

She won second up and placed in her other race.

She prefers soft-going and face males.

Top jockey and trainer let’s see if the boys and distance suit her.

Better odds but this is crossed entered, may go in race 8.

11 – Call Di – Draw 9

Won her maiden 2 starts back at 1400m.

Then tried the Group 2 level with a running third also at 1400m.

The bettors liked her in the last race, she went off at 7-2.

Only 4 races, and looks like one with a chance here.

1 – Glint of Silver – Draw 8

Won a Group 2 race last out at 1400m by about ½ lengths.

Race before was a second in class 1 race also at 1400m.

It took this horse 9 starts to break maiden.

Using a trial as prep for this race and won it.

This is one of those horses that is going to stay in form or go back to the way the horse raced before, in the money runs.

9 – Revolutionary Miss – Draw 10

After 2 good trial races, she ran 5th in two races at the group 1 and 2 levels.

In the group 2 race, they took off blinkers and came from 11th to get 5th. Was she just passing tired horses?

In the group 1 race, she didn’t lose ground but wasn’t making up ground either.

She has won 3rd up before.

She only has her maiden win but placed in the group 3 race.

Race 7

6 – Magical Lagoon – Draw 7

Ran 2 average trials in prep for this race.

Ran an awful race last out at Hanshin, ran second most of the race and then ran last in the group 1.

She’s a group 1 winner at the Curragh and also won at Royal Ascot.

I don’t see her repeating that last effort here.

2 – Knights Order – Draw 15

After a break, he ran in 2 trials the ran 8th in group 1 at Randwick.

Past group 1 winner who has liked this distance in the past with a record of 14 starts 4 wins 3 placings.

He has done much lately and has a terrible post position but with the right trip could run in the money.

15 – King Frankel – Draw 3

A winner last out in a listed race at Rosehill at 1900m.

Going for his 4 win in a row, this gelding has been moving up the ranks.

Moves up, good form, and short price?

Race 8

3 – Hope In Your Heart – Draw 9

Won last out in group 2 at Randwick at 1400m that was off a layoff.

Won at the distance once in two tries.

Raced in a few big dollar races with some success.

Well spotted for a win here.

9 – Ruthless Dame – Draw 10

A strong effort last out running second last out.

4 starts 2 wins 2 placings

Wins were in group 3 and maiden.

She will continue to improve here and may win.

17 – Toregene – Draw 4

In the last five races, 3 wins and 2 seconds.

Last 2 races were group 3 with 2 seconds.

Should be with the leaders and will challenge late.

The first attempt in group 1 and a unique distance.

Race 9

4 – Sibaaq

After layoff and 2 trial races, ran 4th in group 3 at Randwick sitting midpack.

Likes this distance, 6 starts, 3 wins 2 seconds.

She is 16 out of 21 races in the money.

The consistent type may be a better in-the-money runner than winning but I like that record at this distance.

Midpack type who should be challenging at the end.

12 – Waterford – Draw 4

Using a trial, ran third, for the prep.

Really likes Rosehill, 3 starts 3 wins, and likes this distance 3 for 3.

Moving up in class in this race, tried a 1 million dollar race and failed.

I believe there is enough here to suggest that improvement off last and has a horse-for-course angle going on here.

5 – Bois D’Argent – Draw 9

Ran 2 trials before this race.

Last out, in the Gold Cup at Rosehill ran a good 3rd for his first start in Australia.

A winner at Longchamp in a listed race and has good runs on all-weather and turf but at a lower-class level.

The last run was better than I thought because of may be needing a first start but did ok.

Rich’s Ranks

Race 5 – 5 ½ Furlongs – CITY TATTERSALLS GROUP MAURICE MCCARTEN STAKES – 10:40 PM eastern

6 – KALINO – better fractions last out and best record at Rosehill

5 – CLEMENCEAU – good 7/5-2-0 – track 6/4-1-1

3 – COAL CRUSHER – likes to run fresh first up 4/2-1-0

Race 6 – 7 ½ Furlongs – CHANDON PHAR LAP STAKES – 11:20 PM eastern

4 – AWESOME JOHN – best record on good going 5/1-2-2

7 – ZOUGOTCHA – is the big favorite but 0-2 on a good surface

3 – DAYTONA – that last race was deceptively good, only missing by 1.8 lengths at time that would win here

1 – GLINT OF SILVER – won a Group 2 in his last

Race 7 – 1 ¼ Miles – FURPHY SKY HIGH STAKES – 12:00 AM eastern

15 – KING FRANKEL – good 9/3-4-0 – should be better in 2nd up and distance is no problem

4 – NO COMPROMISE – huge push late in last, extra distance help a lot

2 – KNIGHTS ORDER – should get the lead vs a field of closers – hangs on for a piece

9 – GEAR UP – has a win at the distance and good 10/4-1-0

Race 8 – 7 ½ Furlongs – COOLMORE CLASSIC – 12:40 AM eastern

9 – RUTHLESS DAME – just missed in a G1 last out, extra ½ furlong is the difference maker here

10 – SHEEXA BELTER – finished 8th in the same race as the 9, way back at the start but her history says she should be closer today

2 – ANNAVISTO – speed horse with Group 3 win in last, Good 7/3-2-1, but plenty of EP competition

17 – TOREGENE – hard to argue with 7/4-2-0 record and improved his 7f time by nearly 3 seconds in last

Race 9 – 7 ½ Furlongs – HYLAND RACE COLOURS AJAX STAKES – 1:20 AM eastern

12 – WATERFORD – as much as I don’t want to play the favorite 3/3 at the track & distance

5 – BOIS D’ARGENT – 100% ITM first up 6/2-1-3

7 – ASCENSION  – could be frontrunner on easy fractions

1 – BANDERSNATCH – 3rd in a Group 3 last out, expecting improvement in 2nd start off the bench
