Royal Randwick delivers one of the strongest cards of the season with the Inglis Sires, TJ Smith Stakes, Doncaster Mile, and Australian Derby. This race-by-race breakdown combines Tom’s Tips and Rich’s Ranks for Races 6–10, highlighting form, class moves, surface preferences, and pace dynamics.
🏇 ROYAL RANDWICK PICKS
RACE 6 – Inglis Sires – 12:20 am ET
Tom’s Tips
10 – Am I Dreaming – one for one with a nice first start at 1300m.
Off that impressive win, he makes a big jump in class, but the
time was good, and he’s only adding 100m. Big price.
4 – Campione D’italia – started slow and came on late with too
many issues to overcome. Switch to the top jockey with an
improved trip; he will be tough to beat.
7 – Rich On Bubbles – won his last three races with a strong finish
last time out. Moves up in class and should handle 1400m.
Rich’s Ranks
13 – Miss Chanel – hasn’t won yet but appears to be the fastest horse 6f wise
12 – Streisand – hard to argue against this one vs these
10 – Am I Dreaming – won debut with power move – 2nd race upside at a price
5 – Paradoxium – has A Group 2 win at Randwick
RACE 7 – Asahi Super Dry T J Smith Stakes – 12:55 am ET
Tom’s Tips
6 – Joliestar – with an average barrier trial off two wins, but she is
in the best form now. With this race and the top-speed runs, she
will be in time for another win.
1 – Jimmysstar – first start of the season was poor. Disregard this
effort because he has shown in the past that he is a proven
runner, and both barrier trials were winning efforts. He should run
better this time.
3 – Giga Kick – he comes into the race off a fair barrier trial in the
heavy going. His last start was a good effort, and he was coming
on at the end. The track condition suits, and he’s very good third
up.
Rich’s Ranks
4 – Overpass – look at that soft record 7/5-1-0 and 5 wins on 28 with other footing
1 – Jimmysstar – Group 1 winner that likes all footings – but soft 9/5-1-2
7 – Tentyris – has the fastest 6f time – question is soft
5 – Mazu – longshot out on the lead – catch the right fractions
RACE 8 – Doncaster Mile – 1:35 am ET
Tom’s Tips
15 – Sheza Alibi – it’s hard not to put her on top of her last two
races. She’s two for two at the distance and won her start at
Randwick. She gets a big weight break and won her trial coming
into this race. She will be a big favorite.
10 – Attica – he ran well, but a bit keen, in the Guineas two start
back run. His last race appears to be a tour around the track and
never really on terms. He gets that weight advance, and why not
at these odds?
1 – Gringotts – top weight and has handled it before. Ran strongly
last time, running second to one of the best horses in Australia.
He’s very strong third up with six starts and four wins, and nine
starts at this distance with six wins.
Rich’s Ranks
15 – Sheza Alibi – heavy favorite for sure and rightfully so
4 – Evaporate – longshot ITM 6/6 at the distance, 2/2 at the track and run back to March 7th mile and he pulls off the upset
7 – Autumn Boy – can compete with the top pick timewise and won 3/5 on soft
8 – Steparty – my all or nothing type on soft footing 5/3-0-0
RACE 9 – Australian Derby – 2:15 am ET
Tom’s Tips
5 – Storm Leopard – owners paid the late entry fee after his good
performance last Saturday. The comment that he “stepped up”
makes me think that the 2400m distance isn’t a problem.
6 – One Step Closer – ran fourth last time out in the Guineas at
Rosehill Gardens. He had some issues in the race but battled on.
He appears to be a stayer, but he will have to improve coming out
of the starting gate. Take a chance on this one.
1 – Observer – he ran third last time out, with the jockey saying he
needs more of a staying trip. He had to be eased off some horse
midway in the race but held well at the end. He’s won two group
one races and has only been out of the money once in his ten-
race career.
Rich’s Ranks
5 – Storm Leopard – stands to get an excellent trip the way this race shapes up
2 – Road To Paris – just won at the distance – Zac Purton knows a thing or two about winning as well
1 – Observer – could be the favorite – but lone trip in his last over soft footing was ehh
12 – Are You Kidding – nope, I am not – big longshot – ITM 4/4 on soft and heavy – another that should be in a great position and it looks like the longer the better and this is his longest
RACE 10 – 4 Pines P J Bell Stakes – 2:50 am ET
Tom’s Tips
18 – Brave Xena – undefeated off of three starts and the last race, she
closed very quickly going three wide. This race has seen three other horse
win their next start. Up in class but ran at the end as she did before, she
wins.
9 – Plaintiff – she will come into this race off on two barrier trials, and one
was on at heavy eight, which she won. She’s undefeated after three races
and moves up from a benchmark 72 race. She drops back 100m today.
She has been first up since December.
5 – Agarwood – she ran second last time out in a listed race, good odds.
She raced a bit too tightly near the finish. She has speed and should make
a good account of herself again, but at lower odds.
Rich’s Ranks
11 – Horseshoe Hill – has not gone this long yet – but appears the extra distance helps
1 – Inkaruna – definitely been in against tougher company – over bet?
5 – Agarwood – just missed last out and a repeat of that race could take home the prize
18 – Brave Xena – won 3 of 3 and you just don’t know how good they are until they lose
