Welcome to Tacos and Trifectas! Each week, America’s Best Racing’s Southern California correspondent Jose Contreras – @LosPonies to those who follow him on Twitter – will provide a taco review along with a selection that he will key in trifecta bets in hopes of winning some cash to buy more tacos! Contreras will map out a trifecta betting strategy for how to key his main pick and keep track of his return on investment (ROI).
Stop back if you love tacos and want to get a trifecta play!

This week’s Trifecta key:
Saturday, Feb. 29
#6 Conquest Hardcandy (10-1 odds on morning line): She completely blew the break and came away extremely slow in her first start of the year. She had some run behind horses when going wide around the turn and ended up losing by less than five lengths. I think she can be in the mix of things with a better start. She likes to be on the lead or tracking the pace. Her dam was a graded stakes winner routing on the turf and also won here on the turf at Gulfstream Park.
Recap of previous wager: Special Relativity made a strong late move to win going away by over four lengths to give us the win bet and the trifecta as well.
Strategy on $100 Budget:
50-cent trifecta: 6 with 1,2,4,7,8,9,10,11 with 1,2,4,7,8,9,10,11 ($28)
50-cent trifecta: 1,2,4,7,8,9,10,11 with 6 with 1,2,4,7,8,9,10,11 ($28)
50-cent trifecta: 1,2,4,7,8,9,10,11 with 1,2,4,7,8,9,10,11 with 6 ($28)
