Race 1
3 – Luna Magic – Draw 7
Good third last out at a distance.
She ran at this distance in the last three races and showed improvement.
She has four wins at this level and won once on this racecourse.
Her last win(s) were in May and August, last at 7F and 8F.
Good spot to get a win.
She is the most experienced rider in the field.
2 – Broughtons Flare – Draw 2
Won has three races by not much, nose, head, and 3/4L at over 1 mile.
She won at this level 5 times and on this course 3 times and at this distance 3 times.
He’s the one to beat.
The rider has 11 rides, and no wins maybe this time on in form horse.
8 – Inexplicable – Draw 8
The last three races haven’t been anything special with even runs.
But, if there is a horse for a course in the race, I this is the one.
23 starts with 6 wins and 3 placings
At this distance, 14 starts 5 wins, and 2 placings.
And finally, at this level, 39 starts 7 wins 5 placings.
In November and December, he ran 1st here as the favorite.
In the following race, he ran 3rd.
This rider has 1 win from 7 starts, so some experience.
Race 2
2 – Lexington Hero – Draw 4
Ok effort first out at Kempton in the maiden race.
He never challenged in the race but did beat 7 other horses.
Field quality?
They paid $16k for him
Maybe good enough off the first start.
5 – La Mia Dutchesso – Draw 1
Finished fourth last out behind by 21/4L and basically didn’t finish in the last 100 yards.
She’s had 2 ok efforts and the rest are at even performances.
Is this enough to get her a win for the first time?
1 – The Angelus Belle – Draw 6
The only winner in the field and of the AW surface.
The next two efforts are not so good.
Paid $35k for her, and now in a 6,300clm/sale race.
Win and buyback, maybe.
Race 5
5 – Wyvern – Draw 8
Ran on for 5th last out by 4L but was moving best of all at the end.
He has 2 races over the course and won 1 and placed in the other.
At this distance, he has one win from 3 starts.
Not thrilled with post 8 but being closer that maybe ok.
The first ride for Jason Hart so maybe he’s figured out the horse?
1 – Gobi Sunset – Draw 5
Ran a dull 6th (of 6) last out and tailed off the end.
The race before, he showed no pace early but closed to run second.
The last 2 races were at 6F and now we go back to 7F, a distance he has run 16 times before.
An interesting record at the racecourse, 6 starts 5 placings.
I think he can get a piece again but not the win.
4 – Intervention – Draw 4
He was asked in the last race and only could manage a 4th but he had issues earlier in the race, not settling into stride using much needed energy at your time.
In his early races (the 2 before) he ran second in both races and just missed a class 3 handicap in January.
Who shows up today?
Very good record over the track 11 starts 3 wins 4 placings and has been in the money 50% of his 14 races at 7F (two wins).
Adds distance after last 3 races and should make a good account of myself here.
Race 6
4 – Hooves Like Jagger – Draw 8
The last 2 races have been at longer distances than today and made a good account of himself with a third and a second.
He went off the favorite in both those races and comments were nothing left at the end and didn’t have the pace to challenge. Too far?
He’s won 4 races from 32 starts but 3 of those wins are at this distance.
Drops in the distance, beaten favorite, better trip, better results.
3 – Starfighter – Draw 5
He was asked at the end of the last race and didn’t respond to run 6th at this distance.
The two races before, a win in one at this track and a second.
The last three races are at this distance.
Change the jockey but the trainer is still using an apprentice to get 5 lbs. off the horse.
He’s won or placed at this track 4 out of the 7 times (2 wins).
A Better effort today.
1 – Hooflepuff – Draw 7
He has a nice string of wins at this track but the last 2 haven’t been much of a race for him.
He ran in an amateur jockey race and lost a better place in the final 100m.
Last race, he went left and then didn’t have much in the final furlong along the inside.
These races were at shorter distances and why run him longer?
In the past, he’s done ok at this distance 21 starts 4 wins 5 placings and has had good success at this level, 19 starts 7 wins 3 placings.
I think he is good enough to get a placing here with the right pace.
Race 7
1 – Zumaaty – Draw 3
After the layoff, came back to run 5th on the inside with nothing at the end.
Short of conditioning and needed the race.
Better effort before the break with his first win and then a second.
He has one try at the distance and did nothing.
I am taking a big chance here because his liking of the AW is questionable.
2 – City Escape – Draw 1
Last was average at best running 5th.
Race before, he won and kept on well to get the win.
He has a good record at this distance with 15 starts 4 wins 3 placings.
He’s done ok at the track.
Now the question is will be able to put up a good effort?
I think with this group, he should be just fine.
4 – Hot Day – Draw 2
Too far back last out to really get involved in the race running 4th.
Maybe the distance was too far?
Better effort time before running second at 8.6F at this track missing by a head.
This is hardly a winner machine but I think he can get a placing here.
