Royal Ascot Horse Racing Picks and Comments

22 to 1 Tom’s International Tips

2:30

Queen Anne Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) Cl1 (4yo+) 1m I

2 – Baaeed

Undefeated miler of 7 races

What else do you say, he blew by some of these horse in his last race

Top horse in the world? He’s beaten top milers like Palace Pier, Masimal, Order of Australia, etc. have been left in his wake

Maybe Flightline on the turf?

Shortest price horse of the week

6 – Sir Busker

Ok race last out at Newbury vs Baaeed in group 1 but the comment of “never on terms”. He raced in the rear and pushed at the 2F marker.

In the Queen Anne prep race at Ascot, he was in a field of 4 ran a good 2nd prompting the comment that he will like the straight at Ascot in this race.

Average races in Dubai (3 races) but no placings at long odds

I tossed the last race and think he’s race over the 1 mile at Ascot is the race to look at and maybe more suited for the straight mile

1 – Accidental Agent

Out of form late in last season but now, he’s run 2 good races in 2022

He won a handicap in his first start of the season at Newmarket at 7F

Last race, he ran 2nd in a handicap at 7F at Ascot at 22-1 odds

He is winner at Royal Ascot in 2018 at 1 mile

He’s run 24 races at 1 mile and won only 2 races

He’s in form but I don’t know if up to this level again

3:05

Coventry Stakes (Group 2) Cl1 (2yo) 6f

3 – Bradsell – Draw 2

Winner first out at York by 9L as the favorite going 6F.

As to go with 2F left, quickly clear and keep going strongly

It’s hard to complete gauge he’s form but these are 2-year-olds

Sire was stakes winner at 2,3 & 4 at distances of 6F & 7F

Dam won at distances of 6F & 7F as a 2-year-old

One other foal is a maiden winner at 6F

2 – Blackbread – Draw 14

Winner of his first 3 races, sone on the all-weather at Dundalk and next at the Curragh going 5F then 6F(group 3). He was tested more in the 5F race.

Last race, he was the front runner but the other 2 races, he stalked the leaders

Sire was a top sprinter and has produced many top sprinters

Dam won 1 race at 7F (maiden) and this is her first foal

9 – Paddy’s Day – Draw 9

Winner of first start at Windsor in novice race

Duck right at the start then went wire to wire and kept on at 6F

In reviewing race times, he ran at faster time than the rest of the field over the good to firm going

Sire won in Australia and GB at 6F to 1mile

Dam won once and only 1 of the other 3 foals have won

3:40

King’s Stand Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) Cl1 (3yo+) 5f

17 – Mooneista – Draw 14

No wins this season but has run 2nd, 3rd, 2nd in the 3 races at 5F & 6F

2 of these races were at 6F and he really is a 5F specialist

10 starts 3 wins 4 seconds 1 third at 5F and never won at 6F

He comes from behind and there is plenty of speed in this race

Group 2 winner has a great chance here

12 – Nature Strip – Draw 10

Shipping in from Australia winning last start at Randwick by 3 1/4L in group 1 over other group 1 winners

37 starts 20 wins 7 second 1 third and winner of over $12million US

14 races at 5F with 9 wins

He’s won the riches 6F sprint in the world, The Everest

He hasn’t been out of the money since October 2020

He should be the second choice?

10 – Man Of Promise

Last race, he ran 3rd to A Case Of You in group 1 race in Dubai (Casa Creed was in that race too)

He has been running in Dubai for the past 2 years with 3 starts 2 wins and 1 third 2022

And 2021, 1 win from 3 starts, the other 2 races are forgettable

He raced as a 2 and 3 years with some success with 1 win 1 second 1 third from 3 races

William Buick is on board with a record of 4 wins 1 second 2 thirds

If his Dubai form holds, he should be right there at the end and I don’t think they would ship him back to GB if they didn’t think he had a chance

4:20

St James’s Palace Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Colts) Cl1 (3yo) 1m

2 – Angel Bleu – Draw 11

Good enough effort last out at Newbury running 3rd to Perfect Power, clearly, he needed that start, he was sweating and very keen at the start. This was a very fast race too

In his career, he’s run badly in one race and it was at Royal Ascot running 13th but came back in next race at Ascot to run 2nd.

After that, he won 3 in a row including 2 group 1 races including at 1 mile run at St. Cloud for his final run of the season

When he started his career, he ran 3rd in his first race

He has won off a layoff from his races in GB then going to France

He’s won 2nd off a layoff twice

9 – Maijoon – Draw 8

Undefeat in 3 starts and last race was in Germany winning the 2000 Guineas (German Version) by 1 1/4L after a slow start

Won a novice race at Doncaster as his first start and then won a condition stake at Kempton on the AW at 1 mile

Late developing colt who’s sire was top class sprinter and dam was unraced but her other foal is also a winner

Step up big here, so let’s see if he has what it takes to win

6 – Coroebus – Draw 2

Winner of his last 2 races and beat stablemate Native Trail last out in the 2000 Guineas by 3/4L, that was his first start of the season

All races at 1 mile and he’s 4 starts 3 wins 1 second

He’s won on good to good to firm and can rate close to the leaders or be in the back of the field

He’s the big favorite so I am going to try and beat him

5:00

Ascot Stakes (Heritage Handicap) Cl2 (4yo+ 0-100) 2m4f

4 – Arcadian Sunrise – Draw 4

First start of the season was a 4th place run at Chester, got into some traffic problems with 3F to go, move up but didn’t have that closing kick. This was on the tight turn Chester course in a 14-horse field

He’s wins have come in races over 2 miles but this on both hurdles (4 wins) and flats (2 wins) and 1 win of the fences

Distance isn’t the issue but needs racing room and some luck in this large field.

Gets Harry Davies with 5-pound allowance

7 – Marshall Plan – Draw 15

3 seconds in a row for this 4 year old for the Gosden’s and he’s only won 1 race in his 12 race career. He only lost by a neck.

This was his first attempted over 2 miles and maybe that’s what he wants, distance and more distance

Frankie Dettori rides again and if he wants distance, Frankie will get him home.

16 – Scaramango – Draw 1

Last out, he was the favorite and finished last in a 4 horse field. But this was a hurdle race group 2. One on the comments was not fluent.

First race in six months and bet down because?????

He has a better record over the hurdles – 12 starts 4 wins 2 seconds 2 thirds but he’s finished in the money 6 times from 11 starts on the flats with one win.

I am not looking for him to win, just finish 2nd or 3rd

5:35

Wolferton Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (4yo+) 1m2f

14 – Tasman Bay – Draw 6

Coming off a layoff for this race, he’s won only a novice race off a layoff, actually he’s won only one race but he has placed is 4 for 4 running second or third in group races.

Technically he’s dropping in class

He’s a front runner who knows who to hang around at the end for a placings, see record.

He ran 2nd in group2 at Royal Ascot last year and I don’t see why he couldn’t do it again

1 – Cadillac – Draw 3

A winner last out at Leopardstown in a listed race traveling very strongly and won nicely

He’s a group 2 & 3 winner at distance of 7F to 10F but after shipping to Saratoga and running 9th, he lost his form in the next 4 races including layoffs but running in group level races

If he runs to this level again, he has a good chance of winning

11 – Palavecino

After winning at Lingfield AW first out, they got too aggressive and placed him in a group1 race at Epsom, as figured, he was been by 14L

Big longshot here but has an ok record on the flats, 2 wins from 10 starts and 1 third. Yes, his record on the AW is much better 10 starts 4 wins 3 seconds 1 third but this is a listed race, and he fits.

At distances of 10F or longer, he’s has 16 starts 5 wins 3 seconds 2 thirds

He’s generally a front runner so good handling will result in good race

I maybe nuts and should be playing this horse to finish last but he get the services of Jamie Spencer who in the last 14 days in winning at a 27% rate

Hmmmmmm

6:10

Copper Horse Stakes (Handicap) Cl2 (4yo+ 0-105) 1m6f

4 – Okita Soushi – Draw 14

In his 3-race career, he’s won a maidan, ran 2nd in class 3 and 2nd last out in a listed race over Good to yielding course in first start of the season

In the last race, he ran near the rear, asked to pick it up with 3F left, move up but was no match for the winner

I am going to take my chances with this lightly raced 4 year old trained by Joseph O’Brien and hope that last race is what he needed to run in this race

6 – Pita Pinta – Draw 2

She’s run in 3 listed races this season and tan 7th, 5th & 2nd and looked like she had a good chance in the last race

She was in touch with the leaders, went up to 2nd in the final furling and finished but not getting to the leader.

Now she drops to class 2 horses and should have a chance to be right there at the end.

16 – Bandinelli – Draw 17

Awful last out running 12 in a class 2 race at Haydock, he was up with the leader and then went backwards and pulled up with 2F left, return to the turf and vet checked and found nothing wrong

Excellent record on the AW of 6 starts 3 wins 1 second 1 third

But also has just fine on the turf too, 4 starts 2 wins

So whatever went wrong, toss the race and maybe the 2 miles on the turf was too much for this horse but just fine on the AW?

He’s won at this distance on the turf at Haydock

He won be one the favorites this time

William Buick up and in last 14 days, he’s winning at a 24% rate and this is also 100% Godolphin horses.
