Out West the Grade II Los Alamitos Futurity. It was only of a field of 5 take on the 1 1/16 but overall was a race well received.

The Michael McCarthy trained Journalism, turned in a stellar performance beating out the Bob Baffert trained Getaway Car and Gaming both of whom are graded stakes winners in their own right. The other Baffert trained Mellencamp finished 5th with the Doug O’Neill trained Rank 4th.

The stretch saw that a battle was starting to brew but the move by Journalism in a good effort pushed the two-year-old colt past Getaway Car, when said and done Journalism finished the race by 3/12 lengths in a very impressive victory.

Journalism was a supplement to the race for $7,500 proving the chance was worth the decision to do so, with his win it gave him 10 Kentucky Derby points. He is owned in partnership with Birdlewood Farm, Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners or La Penta et al.

On hand to present the trophy to the wining connections was none other the legendary Race Caller Ed Burgart.

Journalism was ridden to victory by Umberto Rispoli. Journalism is a colt out of Curlin- Mopotism (Uncle Mo), Bred in Kentucky by Don Alberto Corporation.
